Congrats NCAA tourney for being the worst way to crown a champ in any sport

In a sport where the NBA uses 7 game series to decide a champion, the NCAA uses a single elimination tournament. Basketball is way too fluky for this method.

At least they crown a champ in basketball.

the NCAA tourney is 1 of the best things in all sports.
Does the NFL have a shitty post season? Its basically a 1 and done tourney.

There's a difference between good TV and a good way to crown a champion.

Difference is in football, there are way less fluky wins. In basketball one team can be hot that day or another one cold. Not really the case in football, at least not close to the extent of basketball. He has a good point. The college basketball tourney is great for creating excitement, but an awful way to crown the "best" team of the year

Agreed. Ironically the NBA is the best.

Congrats on starting a thread that has already been discussed about ad nauseum today. You're so original

I'd be bummed too if my team couldn't make a field of 68(!) teams.

I mean yea I agree with that.
But at the same time, isn't that what makes the tourney great?? Anything can happen in a knock out style tourney. Anyone can beat anyone in it. It's the reason you have the Cinderella story type teams that make deep runs in the tourney that everyone loves so much like Butler, Florida Gulf Coast, etc.

I agree the best team doesn't necessarily win, but damn if it isn't entertaining.

IDGAF about who wins in NCAA Basketball so I'm just looking for excitement. March Madness delivers that in spades for me.

Better than they way they do football.

Hot take --
he round robin method used by most European soccer leagues (an the Ivy League in basketball) i the most "fair", but it is also the least exciting as a viewer. Which makes it, ironically, the worst way to crown a champ, as it often deprives the season's final days of drama (ok, once in a blue moon you have that awesome EPL finish, but that's noteworthy precisely because its so rare)
Give me playoffs. Fun, exciting, and full of drama. "Fair" can suck it.

well actually the champion has to win six games in a row, a little harder than one flukey win

Completely disagree.
