Sig P238 Sport for CC

Went in to PSA this weekend and shot both the P238 and P938 Sport models (Rubber Hogue grip and extended pinky mag). Looking for a CC gun for the fiancee and I was more than pleasantly surprised at the accuracy of the little Sig.
Wasn't really looking at these, but with the deal going on at PSA, $469 plus tax, we just couldn't pass it up.
If you are looking for a gun for your SO, or a nice pocket subcompact that you can actually hold, I highly suggest giving the little Sig a serious look.

If you buy a .380 for defense you must be very picky about your round selection. Wouldn't be a bad idea to cycle a box or two through it of whatever defense ammo you pick.

That's what I settled on for the Mrs. She loves it and I love to carry it in the summer. Accuracy is great and the stock sights are nice.

I own one and love it. Can't beat that PSA price right now

Glad you found a good CC for your lady.
Make sure she knows the proper way to rack a pistol (refer to my videos) and make sure she carries often. As I always say, women benefit from firearms ownership much more than men do.
Carry on.

She ran through several mags with my XDS .45 this wknd so I'm pretty sure she has the loading part covered.
As for racks, well, let's just say she DEFINITELY has that covered.

I don't mean to dredge up this thread, but why is that? I thought modern .380 rounds were pretty good, or are you taking about the differences between hollow points, regular rounds, etc.?
I know you guys have probably run this topic into the ground, but I'm trying to decide between a .380 single stack (probably the Ruger LCP) and looking at the single stack 9 mm (no preference yet). It would be for my SO and me so I'm looking for something we both can be comfortable carrying. I think she would handle a .380 a little easier. I'm not interested in revolvers either fwiw.

Not sure how many folks here know the name Massad Ayoob (Google it if you don't). He moderates a self-defense forum on GT -- here's a fairly recent reply to the .380 vs. 9mm question.
I'm positive it won't take long for one of the board's experts to post an opinion that differs from Ayoob's. That's part of what makes the interwbz so much fun.

Question:
What do you suggest for a ruger lcp daily carry?
Thank you for your time.
Answer:
Mas Ayoob
Personally, I suggest a more powerful handgun.
There's nothing in .380 that I personally trust.
But, if you're locked in to the .380 concept, you might want to try Hornady Critical Defense.
best,
Mas

I'm personally comfortable with a single stack 9mm, but I'm not sure my SO would be. Plus, are there any single stack 9mm that you can just throw in your pocket (I know that's a separate tactical argument altogether)?

Kahr PM9 will readily fit in a pocket. They are not cheap. Excellent trigger (but no reset).
M&P Shield 9mm will fit in large pocket. Fairly cheap. Fair trigger, does have reset, and can be made into a very good trigger with an APEX kit.

Yeah, Kahr was my first choice, but man I can't get past that price tag. I like the single stack Springfield XDs as well. I've held and messed around with the Ruger LCP .380 and it's really easy to put into a pocket and I can't even feel it. I'm just wanting to make an informed decision and that's hard to do when the. 380 vs 9mm debate rages on.
For the price, I really like the Ruger LCP.

Man, the PM9 is one small gun. So is the Kimber Solo.

I doubt your SO will be pleased to learn you place such a low value on her life.
seriously, I think price is the wrong criterion to look at when selecting a SD option.
I mentioned the PM9 -- shudda also mentioned the CM9. Same size, same trigger, slightly different barrel design, no spare mag furnished. About $250 cheaper.

That's not the only consideration, and the Ruger is a trusted brand. At least that's what I've been reading. I'm a Glock guy, but I'm not waiting for them to produce a single stack 9mm and the waiting list for the 42 is insane.
