Army dudes: M-1A2 question

So I'm having a ridiculous debate about who would win in a fight between a tank (type unspecified) and a crowd armed only with molotov cocktails.
I've sat in an M-1A2 before, but can someone give me an experienced rundown of its various (unclassified) capabilities and why people with bottles of gasoline would all be completely fricked?

How close is the crown to the tank when hostilities break out?

How big, and how committed, is the crowd?

If tank is fully loaded , crowd hasn't got a chance

Doesn't that version have the machine gun that can be remotely fired?

I'm guessing a fully crewed tank?
My money is on the tank.

Crowd wins.
Look up the winter war.
Hell, look up the Ukrainian protesters

Correct M1 can hit a target while on the move from a mile out.. Tank wins

The US does not operate like third world Muslim militaries. Armor will accompanied by lighter armored vehicles and infantry. In reality the Molotov throwing nut jobs would be killed pretty quickly.

What if the target is on top of the turret?

Too close for missiles, I'm switching to guns.

They could disable the tank if they hit it in the right places. But even here they'd be hard pressed to hit it in the right places so long as the tank kept moving. Basically if they did hit it in the right places, it would be what we use to call a "mobility kill" in that they could render it immobile but the tank would still be capable of defending itself.
As for killing the crew inside? No. So long as their ammo held up they could continue to mow people down. Here is a look at the weapons on an M1A2....
You've got the main gun (120mm smooth bore cannon), coax 7.62 MG mounted next to the main gun (it's the small tube sticking out just right of the main gun), the commander has a .50 MG and the loader also has a 7.62 MG. Of all these weapons systems, only the loader's MG requires a hatch be opened to fire. All the other weapons can be fired from inside the tank with all hatches buttoned up. The TC's .50 does require the ammo box be changed once he's exhausted his ammo and that also requires a hatch be opened. But the main gun and the coax MG have a shite ton ammo internally and could cut down theoretically thousands before all ammo is exhausted.
