So LSU’s Zach Mettenberger is shaping up as someone who could appeal to those shopping in the high reaches of the second round.

While it’s unlikely he’d go between third and 11th overall, the possibility of going between 36th and 45th is intriguing.

Not surprising. He'd be in the first round if he didn't injure that knee and gone to the Senior and the Combine

He will have a very interesting build up to the draft. He has the potential to be a franchise QB. I think he could be a bargain for someone early 2nd rd.

His recovery has been insane.

80% recovered in only 3 months means he might be able to participate in OTAs soon after the draft which improves his draft stock.

Those OTAs are huge, especially for QBs.

Take it all with a grain of salt. They have hyped, then lowered all these QBs. Mett was considered second round even after he was injured, then as they hyped other guys, he was considered 3rd round.

Gilbert, Garapillo (sp), Bortles, etc, have all moved around according to scouts and the media. Carr was considered an overall #1 pick early on, and now, he gets little to no publicity. Boyd was considered a first rounder, now he's not. Manziel has been lauded as the first QB taken, and the crap goes on and on.

I will just watch the draft and continue to laugh at the mocks.

I think Carr is the sleeper of this draft.

Something about drafting Mett in the 2nd Rd doesn't seem right to me. He would be a bargain in the late 3rd-4th. This draft seems to have a lot of teams reaching for franchise QBs.

The only thing really hurting Mett is his injury. I may be wrong, but I don't think he will be ready physically to be a day one starter. Teams picking a QB in the first round, for the most part, are looking for a first year starter.

I keep seeing the Vikings showing him a lot of love, but are they going to continue with the merry-go-round of terrible QBs for another year while grooming Mett to take over year 2?

Whoever picks him is drafting him with the intention to at least give him a chance at the starting job in 2015. I thought early 2nd before the injury, after I thought late 3rd early 4th (that was assuming that he wouldn't play at all in 2014). Now it appears he could play early in 2014. I think he still may fall to the 3rd rd, but as everyone knows, it only takes one team to get drafted.

His stock is rising at this point because it was artificially supressed in the weeks following the season/injury.

This week's Pro Day will tell the tale on how teams really feel about him.

Curious that PFT doesn't see him as an option for the Texans at 33. Guess part of that is due to a growing sense that one of the first-round graded QBs will fall to that spot, or that the Texans will trade for Mallet (and, yes, I do feel as though Clowney will go first overall).

I also believe this.

He looked more like an NFL quarterback than anyone I saw play last year.

Statements like this confuse me. Did you not see Bryce Petty, Marcus Mariota or Brett Hundley play last year?

Also, the tools around Mett are being vastly underrated by some posters.

Keep in mind a lot of the "So and So's stock is up/down" reports comes from teams giving certain reporters information off the record. Oftentimes this is "misinformation" meant to conceal a team's real goal.

Also, the 2nd & 3rd tier QBs are often the subject of "fast-rising draft stock" reports. Last year, there were all kind of reports that Ryan Nassib of Syracuse, Zac Dysert of Miami OH, and Matt Scott of Arizona were shooting up draft boards. Nassib ended up dropping to 4th round, Dysert to 7th, and Scott was undrafted. Two QBs who did move up draft boards - EJ Manuel and Mike Glennon - were not necessarily the subject of such "inside scoop" reports.

For what its worth, there are three former NFL players on SportsRadio 610 in Houston - Seth Payne, Ted Johnson, and Travis Johnson - who all think the Texans should draft Clowney #1 and target Mett or McCarron at the top of the 2nd round. Bucky Brooks of NFL Network said as much during a segment on 610 last week as well. I think there's a bit of backlash against the idea that you have to take a QB #1 overall if you do not have a franchise QB, especially considering there isn't a no-brainer franchise QB in this draft, and the "top-tier" guys (Bortles, Bridgewater, Manziel) all have flaws and/or lack experience in pro-style systems. Also, I believe the jury is still out on how well QBs who exclusively ran spread offenses in college (Manziel, Bortles & Carr) can adapt to pro systems.

God I hope he doesn't go to the fricking Jaguars. Or the Raiders. Talk about being set up to fail.

Honestly, I like some of the offseason moves Jacksonville has made so far. They are headed in a different direction. The Raiders still have me scratching my head

Fwiw, Manziel would be a good fit in Jacksonville.

Before he got hurt I saw mocked in the first to the Browns once. When giving your opinion goes wrong.

Just heard on the local news that Zach is scheduled a visit later this week in Jax. I know most don't agree but I think he would do well here in Jacksonville. The Jags are looking up!!!
