Some people have one leg that's shorter than the other. That makes it a bitch to run

It's not that bad if the difference is small. My dad's was about half an inch of difference and he could run for distance just fine.

I played OL in college while doing ROTC.

Could run a 4.8 40yd dash, but had a ton of problems running a timed two miles even though I thought I was in great shape. Went to jump school and still got my butt kicked running six miles during zero week. At my lowest weight (213) after losing 40 lbs in six weeks at Fort Bragg, I could still barely break a 16-minute two mile.

First PT test during and after OBC, I ran a 15:30. First active duty unit, I was running 25 miles a week for PT. At 220 lbs, my fastest APFT run was 14:34. No smoking, no dipping. I could on the other hand, outruck any officer in the BN as an Infantry FSO. Guess I was just built for it.

I'm 6'1, barrel-chested and have short legs. Got my Dad's family genes. My brother on the other hand is 6'1 and got my Mom's family genes. He's got long legs and not barrel-chested like I am. He played soccer up until his mid 20's.

TL:DR: I have short legs, OT fat and have always had trouble running.

To get technical...the human form isnt made to run.

It is made to walk.

One reason even a really out of shape person can walk 15 or 20 miles no problem.

Im a fat arse and dont think twice about hiking the longer trails out west. Did a few of the hikes in tennessee for example which were 10+ miles and had my eastpak with 30 to 40 lbs of crap in it.

And yes...I know a small percebtage of the population is capable of running at great speeds or long distances. Im just sauing pretty much anyone can crank out some decent distsnce while walking.
