Was a good idea, but partnership soured, and John is refunding anyone who hasn't received a box that was ordered:

I was on the fence about ordering one, and this made it easy for me to decide.

Always wondered why the box was coming from north Carolina. Should have kept it local.

Wife's coworker ordered it for us. Apparently intended it to only be one, but we kept getting them. I guess we got them all. By the time we got the third one, the whole thing started to seem a bit pointless. Ergo, I guess this isn't all that surprising.

I knew something was amiss when the last box I received featured tuna, avacado, tangerine and large pasta shells.

Kudos to him for refunding the money....but I seriously question whether this was a good idea. Box contents were kinda simplistic--a recipe, a silly utensil (a shrimp deveiner?), some cooking tips--that seemed more appropriate for novice cooks. To me, the contents seemed targeted at a Rachael Ray sort of audience...nothing gourmet or taste-redefining came out of those boxes. He's a fine dining guy--these lame boxes did nothing to enhance his brand.
Those seriously interested in food would have been better served w/$50 a month in ingredients from Zingermans or La Tienda or a credit at Fante's (LINK /).
