I'm voting no on the BREC tax renewal.

It's my only way to protest the CATS tax rigged election along with the over $80 million BREC has in its bank account.

You're welcome, but technically it's not free. You have to pay a fare to ride a bus, even in Freeloader City....er, I mean St George.

CATS covers most of St. George? News to me.

Apparently from what I gather from this board news does not travel to St George.

But CATS does....

CATS does service St. George and since hotel/motels taxes in all of EBR help pay for CATS as does parish transportation fund it's only natural that SG would receive services too.

CATS also gets a significant amount of funding from the Feds. I know people in SG pay income taxes too.

It's ironic the same group that says we need one Baton Rouge decided when it came to public transportation that two Baton Rouges was fine.

Can you pass this along to your boy Delgado. According to him, BR will cease to exist if SG decides to keep their tax dollars closer to home.

Back on point. I always vote NO. If a city/parish has enough money to build tributes to the Greek Gods for libraries and courts then they have enough money.

If SG is freeloading, I wonder what Russian thinks BR is doing?

I thought without SG tax money the world as we know it would end, people would die, and there would be utter chaos.

Oh the irony................

How do you dream this crap up???

When the CATS property tax passed, the parish removed its $3 million/year general fund subsidy for CATS. The hotel/motel tax does NOT go to CATS. The only way a SG resident would pay for a bus service is if he pays the fare to ride the bus.

Since most of that SG "tax money" is not paid by SG residents, you're still free loading.

Once the Mall of La and Perkins Rowe are annexed into BR, St George's proposed tax revenues shrink by 50%.

I always vote 'yes' on real estate taxes. It's ridiculous how low they are in this state.

I can't find anything on The Advocate website about this BREC tax renewal. Anyone see anything in today's paper?

Wrong......Review the CATS budget for 2014, they list all their sources of revenue and it isn't just fares and the recently passed property tax.

You are one cocky SOB, and if you only knew as much as you thought you knew you'd be smart.

LINK

CATS is budgeting 1.2 million from the Hotel/Motel tax for instance
550K from the parish transportation fund

But of course I you already knew that, right?

They don't want you to vote, the fix is in for a light turnout.

And until then, it's not BR City sales taxes is it? It's parish tax money.
