Pretty low of Adams but I think the fan out his hand on his hat or face. If that's the case then frick the fan.

I love seeing fans defend their turf at baseball games and help out their team by stealing foul balls from the players.

Not like the bitches that run away and let the guy catch it.

Would have been hilarious if he had punched Adams.

they should totally let people from the stands interfere in other sports too.

The fan did nothing wrong with regard to the actual baseball play. The ball was not in play. It was in his allowed area. Adams is a tPOS for pushing the fan afterward. The fan flipping him off is trashy as hell but it's also hilarious because he caught the ball like a boss.

You'd have a point if he interfered.

baseball lets fans interfere with a ball in play - we've known that at least since a fan helped the yankees win a playoff series

Baseball doesn't "let" anyone anymore since there's replay now. Try to keep up.

if you are familiar with the bartman case/ruling the fans are allowed to interfere so long as the ball is in the stands. if you want to argue that's fine I disagree.

That's a push? Judging from the gif, he just patted him on the chest with his glove. I guess this is more of the media overblowing a small issue. Kind of like Boomer Esiason "ripping" Daniel Murphy.

FWIW, unless the fan is sitting in the bleachers their interference is probably not malicious because they are probably not in a position to notice both the flight of the ball and the player trying to make a play on teh ball. Jeffrey Maier was deliberately interfering with a player from the other team. Steve Bartman and the Reds fan in this thread were just going for the ball with no idea whether or not the player had an opportunity to make a play on it.

I think its baseball's fault really. They should design the field and stands such that the actions of the fans from the stands can't (intentionally or not) help one team and hinder the other. That would be pretty simple and it would improve the integrity of the game... something that baseball pretends they care about so much.
