As a lot of you know I'm as big of a Cardinals fan as they come and when I saw this earlier I was pretty embarrased.

I don't think this is a huge deal but bubba (as I love to call Matt Adams for those who don't know) should've definitely known better and this was inexcusable.

While I believe the fan is a piece a trash for flipping the bird to him I also believe that Adams should be suspended for a game, that may seem extreme to some but I expect our professional athletes to be smarter than this.

In reality he will most likely get a stern talking to by Mattheny/Mozeliak and that will be the end of it

Well I haven't seen anything about this other than what has been posted on this site so I have no idea whether the media is making a big deal out of it or not

I will say this though, modern athletes should understand that any time they venture into the stands they are at risk of something like this. It's very unfair but it's true in a post NBA brawl world

And yes, it's completely against the cardinals way but that phrase pisses off a lot of ppl bc some of us treat it like it's one of the 10 commandments (which I don't necessarily disagree with) so I didn't say that originally

Meh
Adams with a little razzing, probably either jokingly said 'come on man' or 'good catch' or something, the fan is just not a good sport.

So you are admitting what the player did by pushing the fan was inexcusable but the fan is a piece of trash for flipping him off? What should he have done when some random dude, that he can't touch without getting arrested, pushes him in front of his GF and then runs away?

Reds have terrible fans so what do you expect?

That being said, they interviewed the fan after the game and he said "it was more of just a little love tap".

Media gonna media. Funny though.

Lol, Cards are widely considered to have the best fans in baseball.

Unless you mean on this board.

Terrible edit, either way.

Not nearly as bad as what I read, but Adams probably shouldn't have done it. Looks like the guy was giving him a little crap because he caught it, gloating, and Adams just have him a push. Not a big deal.

Isn't the rule if the fan reaches over into the field of play, that's interference? That fan didn't come close to that.

Shitty of Adams to push him, shitty of the fan to flip him off, but it's Cardinals/Reds and they really don't like each other so I'm okay with it. If I were the fan I'd be like "I don't like the Cardinals, and I know they don't like the Reds, so I'd expect him to be a little pissed I caught a ball he's paid to catch."
