quote:

Instead of encouraging free and open debate, collectivists strive to discredit and intimidate opponents. They engage in character assassination. (I should know, as the almost daily target of their attacks.) This is the approach that Arthur Schopenhauer described in the 19th century, that Saul Alinsky famously advocated in the 20th, and that so many despots have infamously practiced. Such tactics are the antithesis of what is required for a free society—and a telltale sign that the collectivists do not have good answers

No wonder liberals hate him so much.
Free society vs authoritarian control(Obamunism)

at someone's political OPINION being "right" and someone else's "wrong"

I don't dislike Koch's methods any more then George Soros', but we need to get money out of politics as much as we can or the republic will cease to be by of and for the people (if it hasn't already lost that characteristic anyway).

Same reason all libs hate proponents of conservative principles...if there are too many free-thinking, hard-working americans who don't rely on the gubment, the libs of today are out of a job tomorrow.

I disagree. Money will always be in politics and only when we do things like finance campaign laws do we make it corrupt. It should simply be absolutely transparent with no limits.

After those campaign finance laws went into effect it just made those PACs so popular and hid the money.

there are these things called jails

quote:

It should simply be absolutely transparent with no limits.

With no limits to spending then person A can buy all the "speech" he wants, effectively drowning out the speech of everyone else around him who can't buy that much "speech". It gives him unequal access and favor and makes his vote inherently more valuable than anyone else's. If you think that that's a good thing then I guess that's you're right but to me it will create an oligarchic class that will result in a very small number of people holding the vast majority of political power. The republic will essentially be dead.

It's already been happening for awhile but it's going to speed up big time in the coming years between Citizens United and this decision today. Dark days indeed.

The kochs don't want to spend money on politics, they've said as such many times.. They do it because the system in place requires them. They would rather allow the market to declare winners and losers and it's why they fight to minimize the power structure with the government

So to fix this, Fedgov restricts person A's speech.

Brilliant

No, to fix this Fedgov ensures that your speech can't be drowned out by someone else's speech, which is effectively restricting YOUR speech.

here's a hint champ...if there is not as much power at fedgov, they won't spend the money there.

your solution is akin to trying to stop drug deals by removing money from society. It doesn't stop any of the backdoor bullshite.

either you're exceedingly naive, or stupid.

So, you are of the opinion it's ok to restrict some speech so your speech can be heard?

it's ok to ensure that everyone gets a chance to speak and have their voice heard.
