Wife and I are on the season 4 finale. This series is so fricking sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooow. I was expecting it to be on par with Breaking Bad, The Wire, Lost, Deadwood, etc. It's not bad, but it is not nearly meeting my expectations. Of course, I'll finish it out since I'm this far into it, but it has been a letdown.

Yea I got through like 6 or 7 episodes and just...kinda didn't have interest in watching another episode, so I just kind of quit.

It was alright, but didn't hold my attention like I expected from the BEST SHOW EVER, Nothing really happened. It was way too slow.

I'm about to start Rome instead. Or give The Wire another try.

Rome was good - I liked the side stories as much or more than the main plot. And it doesn't tale itself too seriously. The Wire was excellent. It doesn't have the excitement of Breaking Bad or GoT, but while a tad slow, it is worth watching. Held my interest a LOT more than Sopranos.

The Sopranos pisses all over Breaking Bad. Breaking Bad was a terrific show, and one of the best I've ever seen, but I wouldn't rank it anywhere near The Sopranos in terms of writing, acting, storyline, complexity, etc. It also has the advantage of being groundbreaking, whereas Breaking Bad was just a good show.

Every bit of this.

And to the criticism of it being "slow"....The Sopranos is the polar opposite of shows like Breaking Bad. Every episode of the sopranos has it's own story and is watchable on its own. It does not solely depend on an overall story arch or plot.

Excuse the cliche, but The Sopranos is more than just an incredible TV show, it's art. It doesn't pander to audiences these days who crave constant action/story movement.

Thanks. I haven't laughed that hard in a while. What was groundbreaking about The Sopranos?
No one on Sopranos comes close to some of the acting performances on Breaking Bad.

I just don't see it. There are so many episodes in which so little happens, the only reason you can push through the episode is the fact that it IS part of an overall story arch.

I've given up on trying to get my friends to watch The Wire or The Sopranos. If there isn't a cliffhanger every episode, they refuse to watch it.

I liked The Wire but couldn't get into the Sopranos. Just wasn't my thing.

The Sopranos was one of the first TV series I watched all the way through about 4 years ago.

Pine Barrens is probably my favorite TV episode ever.

Yall have to remember that the show was created before you were able to binge watch 4 seasons at a time. When it came out it was intense drama. And the last season is great.

This is a good point. The Sopranos isn't the kind of show you binge watch for 6 hours on a Sunday.

It's something you watch once a week because it's well written, acted, and directed.
