I have a massive bee hive in a tree in my backyard. This happened overnight. How do I get them to leave.

I'm in a neighborhood, so diesel/homemade flamethrower is out.

It's the spring time, they are on the move as a hive. They should move on in a few days

Catch the queen, drive her to a remote location, let her go. The rest will follow. Let us know how it works out. Good luck.

IS that a pecan tree? Didn't think they'd budded out yet.

Roll up a newspaper, light it and pass it under them.

it's not a hive it's a swarm
Leave them alone and they will eventually find a place to move in to

They are just about harmless right now. If you must have them gone call a bee remover and he will capture them and move them in to a hive

All that. A beekeeper will gladly take them off your hands if you don't want to wait for them to move on. Call your local co-op or look online for your county beekeeper association.

No fire?

Dare neighborhood young human to throw base kernel at hive in exchange for snickers
Watch from inside your house
