Popeye's red beans & rice copycat recipe?

Popeye's RB&R was developed by Warren LeRuth. It has a high fat content. I think they use smoked sausage drippings in there.

If not that, it might be some specially designed seasoning base. I sometimes use Goya Ham Seasoning, which I think is very good, just not exactly the same flavor.

Some people (like Tom Fitzmorris) have said that if you puree a pack of hot dogs and put that in there it tastes like theirs. I don't think that would do it.

Popeye's RB&R are excellent and usually win local favorites polls.

The thought of eating puréed hot dogs is disgusting.

Get a can of blue runner red beans.. add bacon fat, chicken base and a little cream...
