Talk to management or HR? You're supposed to have those by the end of January I believe.

The deadline to mail is jan 31.

It's pretty simple. Ask for it.

Call HR and if you can't get it, file using a Substitute W-2.

What suggestions were you expecting? Honestly there's nothing to tell you other than go ask for the damn thing.

Ask for one from the company. If you don't get it file an extension and contact the IRS and tell them.
Be sure to save proof of conversations with the old company

You can use the info on your last pay stub of the tax year to pay or get your refund.

After Feb 15, tax companies or yourself are allowed to create one based on your last pay check. File with that and you'll be good.

He told you what you need to do. As someone said earlier, it should have been postmarked by 1/31. If you didn't get, you should take it upon yourself to contact your former HR dept.
Filing your taxes is not your former employers repsonsibility.

You don't have to pay taxes on any income you don't get a W2 for.

What kind of magical fairy answer were you expecting?

This. Form 4852, I think. Print it out at IRS.gov.
But if you're still employed by the people, go to HR or the manager and ask for one.

It's actually pretty scary that someone wouldn't know how to handle this situation.
I could see asking us for advice if maybe you'd already talked to someone in your office that was supposed to know and dismissed you and/or gave you bad info, but something tells me you skipped that step.

You can file your tax return with Form 4852; expect a delay if their is a refund until the info is verified.
Call the IRS at 800-829-1040; be prepared for a 30 min hold. Have the following information available: your name, address (including ZIP code), phone number, social security number, your employer/payer's name, address (including ZIP code), and phone number, employer identification number (EIN), an estimate of the wages you earned, the federal income tax withheld, and your dates of employment.
It's a hassle, but make sure you file the return. If you owe the Fed, the penalty for "failure to file" is 5% per month to a max 25%.

Give them a call and they'll either mail it to you or you can go pick it up. I had to do the same thing with my old job.

You've waited 2 months past the deadline? You simply ask HR. Not Us.
