What is the real story behind bad gas being produced at the BR refinery?

From what I have seen ExxonMobil is staying quite about this, I haven't seen a official press release. Also I haven't seen much from LA dept. of Ag on this either. How does bad gas get produced at a refinery and then sold to the gas distributers, then sold to the local gas stations, and then finally to the public? I figure Exxon would have plenty of quality checks, same as the distributers. Also I haven't seen reports on bad diesel, aren't gas and diesel produced in the same process?

TD the only site that works for you ?

“We are taking this matter seriously and are investigating the issue to determine the cause,” the company said in a brief statement. “We want customers to know that the fuel currently at stations meets Louisiana’s stringent regulatory requirements and is safe for use in vehicles.”

quote:

The company also directed anyone with questions about fuel purchased in the Baton Rouge area to call ExxonMobil North America Customer Care at (855) 300-2659.

ExxonMobil said it had shut down its Baton Rouge terminal gasoline loading racks while it investigates a “potential issue” with fuel being sold at select locations around the Baton Rouge area.

Exxon didn't necessarily produce it, unless I misunderstand how their rack works.

So the people who are having bad gasoline problems are all lying?

Its going to be interesting over the next few months. Louisiana residents aren't exactly new to govt/company payouts. I've heard there are several mechanics out there just waiting to hear official word from Exxon. I have a feeling Exxon is going to be fixing a lot of check engine lights in the BR/NOLA area.

No doubt that is why mechanics didn't want to just empty the tanks and return the cars. Hoping to bank on this somehow. 'Murica

Just read the news article.

And so it begins.

Are you saying auto shops/dealership service depts. are "detaining" their customers vehicles waiting to make a buck from Exxon?

Exxon has a terminal on Scenic Highway where trucks fill up for distribution. They send out different brands, not just Exxon. It was only regular unleaded and didn't include premium grade or diesel. The terminal is shut down for the time being.
