In terms of maintenance costs/reliability, fuel economy, comfort, and safety. Expecting a child and will be looking to trade my current truck in for a newer (2013-14), 4 door truck.

Choices I'm currently looking at:

Ram 1500 Big Horn
Ford F-150 XLT
Toyota Tacoma Pre-runner

Anyone who has experience owning either of these and would like to give advice, it would be greatly appreciated!

Do you put a ton of miles on a vehicle?

If so, Tacoma

Well Dodge keeps winning the awards, but Toyota doesn't have union overhead to worry about and my Ford was the best truck I've ever had.

So I don't know. Sorry.

Bought an F150 XLT a year ago. Very happy with the purchase. No issues so far.
It rides great and TONS of room on the 4 door for family stuff.
I can give you details on pricing and all that if you want.

Tacoma is a good buy if that's what you want. Realiable and good gas mileage and resale. Just didn't appeal to me.

Can't comment on Dodge

I recently traded in a 4 door 13 model Tacoma for a Ford XLT.

Tacoma was a fine truck, just not enough room. If you buy a Dodge, all you have is a Dodge.

I've had a 2011 ford f150 4x4 and a 2011 GMC 1500 4x4 so I only have in-depth experience with those. I like the ford better.

I wouldn't buy a dodge unless it were a dually. Just personal preference. Don't know much about the pre-cummer.

You cant go wrong with any of the trucks you mentioned. I drive a 2011 Ram 1500 4x4 and love it. Absolutely no problems thus far and have 57k on it.

Bought my F-150 less than a year ago. Absolutely love it.

Tacomas are nice too.

I appreciate the replies so far

My first truck was a ford, and my current truck is a used 2011 Ram 1500 (37,000 miles) both regular cab. I had issues with my Ford, having to replace a lot things on it (it was older so that is to be expected) and haven't had issues with my Ram so far. I've heard a lot of good things about both, so those two are a toss up at the moment. My co-worker drives a Tacoma and loves it, traded his 2007 with 140,000 miles for a 2014 and hasn't had any issues with either. I've driven his and liked it, but my only complaint is the steering. That's why its in the mix as a contender as well. Again, thanks for the replies.

After I totaled my last vehicle I was in rentals for a month. I drove Dodge, Chevy and Ford during that time. I ended up buying a F 150. Have had it four months and about 8k miles. Really like it a lot. To be honest they are all good vehicles but the ride in the Ford was the best of the three.

Paid 27k or 13k off sticker on a XLT. Not real fancy but very comfortable.

Also has Ecoboost. Lot of gitty up and mileage is decent

Well you asked which is the best based on best bang for the buck, looking at it objectively you've got to go with the Dodge...of course it gets bashed on here because that's the cool thing to do
