It was a fun ride at times this year and a frustrating one during most of it. We saw plenty of negative things but also some great positive things this year.

First some negatives: 1. Defense, just all around bad outside of a few games. It was a combination of lack of hustle, lack of iq and just bad coaching. We have to improve this for next year. Mickey erased plenty of plays but he also got boxed out on drives. We also got bombed from deep, some of that was short guards, some of it was just terrible close outs.We constantly had our hands down when closing out. This is a coaching issue, we should have had guys closing out hard because Mickey was in the paint to erase drives. We had a few nights where our zone was successful but for the most part we were lazy in that and played small in it. then we have our press, we didn't use it much this year and when we did it was no where near as deadly as last year. First, it was because we had mickey at the tip of it and that was just bad. Then, once we went back to Coleman we still rarely got steals out of it.

2. The lack of our bench in sec play. Once sec play started TQ, Banana, Odo, Malone all were terrible. Morgan started slow and was barely getting going when he got hurt. Now this could be some bad usage of our bench by the coach. We also had some extremely odd sub patterns and the refusal to pull a player for a bad play for just a minute to coach him hurt this team.

3. At times our o became stagnant and was plagued by lazy bad passes. This needs to be fixed for next year.

4. In game adjustments and working of the officials for a call.

Now that the bad has been listed we also had some positives

1. our offense was good, yes it was in the negative column for somethings but we also had times where we were very efficient. We had some great drive and kicks and we had some good inside out passing and high low action. We need more of this next year.We also we extremely good in the open court

2. We saw Martin and TQ both start to grow at the end of the year. This is something we can build on. Martin was a grown man and he has great range, a good hard summer of training and Martin will be a terror. TQ got shite on a lot by the rant in season but he played better towards the end of the year. He could be huge for us next year especially if he can slash to the goal and force bigs to rotate over.

3. The team made post season play and won a game, sure not the tourny we wanted but we did at least make the post season.

4. Our ooc play outside of Rhode Island was great. we played umass and memphis both tourny teams down to the wire. We whooped tourny team St. Joes, delivered a beat down to UAB, and we did something okie state couldn't do which was go into texas tech and win.

5. The ICE dome and arky beat down. I thought this would be the spark of the season but it wasn't. It was still a good positive sign to see us take it to kentucky and beat them down.

6. The recruiting class coming in is going to be good and should fill the holes that will be left. Sadly,we lost our country day pipeline but at least we get legit players now

The season also saw Stringer become the 2nd leading 3 point shooter in LSU history. Thank you to him for four years as a tiger and making it rain many times, undersized and even asked to play out of position he did it all. He was also great coming off our bench and one of the good coaching moves Jones made.

Mickey joining Shaq in the 100 blocks in a season club

JOB putting his name high up in the record book for points at LSU

Coleman improving greatly on offense and once again being a outstanding spark for this team.

I love JOB but i really think that with elfert, j gray, and bruce's son coming in next year we end up performing better bc of what they bring.

I should add he also showed us something in the beating of the Dons

another issue was Hickey, I felt like he regressed this year. We really need him to step up next year. He needs to develop a elbow jumper. Jones should have him bust hard to the elbow and if the lane is open drive and if the bigs come to stop you dish it to a cutting Mickey for a easy throw down, or kick it to a shooter in the corner. If they sag off him then pop that elbow jumper all day. I feel like he has so much potential despite his size. He is so quick that he should cause all kinds of problems for other teams. Then he can get hot on 3s once they really sag in to stop his drives.

I would also like us to ditch the crap where we kick the ball behind us to a trailing mickey 40 feet from the goal. It is so useless doing that, 1. mickey isn't a outside threat. 2. we don't want him driving from way the frick either. 3. it puts us in a position where a big threat is taken out and we are probably 2 passes away from even getting a decent look. We need to look to start the offense closer to the goal and not kicking the ball to a non 3 shooter.Mickey should only be above the 3 point line to set a screen and roll. I would like to see something like martin work the top of the key and Mickey waiting on the other block or Mickey work the top of the key and Martin runs the baseline since he has great range and ups. I really hope we get better spacing than we did most of this year.

well, Josh Gray will be the point guard next year, forcing Hickey to play the 2

with that being said Hornsby will challenge him for playing time if he slacks, so IMO he will play better next year

I think at times JOB clogged up things and we relied on him too much instead of good fluid play that we showed vs san fran

I honestly don't know aton about Gray. I think it will be hard to sit Hickey as a senior unless he slacks. I really think he plays better at point if Jones would coach him to attack the elbow. That seems to be a lost art with point guards today, attack the elbow and if they stop you then kick out or pop it from there.

Really, when I watch NCAA post season play, it's obvious LSU basketball is missing some key pieces to make it to the dance. And that ain't JJ's fault. He's bringing in the talent, but it ain't all here yet.

The M & M duo will definitely be on fire next year. Bench players will be much improved. And incoming transfers and freshman will help, maybe a lot, depending on how they pan out.

When JJ is playing with a full deck, his teams will be dealing aces. Now is the time to get the tickets, cuz after next year, there won't be many left.

Let me add that if I never see another jump pass thrown 25 feet backwards towards half court I will be a happy man.

I feel like that could happen but I also felt like CJJ did a much better job coaching last year than this year. I agree he should be amazing with a full deck but he needs to improve in some areas. Hopefully we can run and gun more next year.
