I really like how Jones recruits and how he handled himself when we hired him. I didn't think he did a good job this year for the most part but I'm not going to give up on him. Id like to see year 1 fire, come back because that seemed to be lacking this year. I feel like a coach has to show some passion at some point. All the greats at least get animated at some point during a big game.

This season was a possession or 2 from being a 24-15 win team and a 6 seed in the NCAA.

@U Mass should have been a win. The team was struggling to find an identity then.

Memphis was on the ropes and we just got outshot and rebounded by a legit team. We didn't lose ugly. That game showed me what I THOUGHT was to come. When we stomped UAB, who beat UNC, I just knew we'd be a force similar to the 2000 and 2006 teams.

Rhode Island should have been a win and that loss came back to really bite us. If we score on our last possession, we win. Paint defense was awful in the game and we let one of their skinny guards get wide open 3 looks.

Tennessee was a legit loss and could have been our first. Tennessee is only matched by other deep, athletic teams. Now, we see how good the Vols are.

@Ole Miss was a heartbreaker and went into OT due to our second half sleep walking. Ole Miss is also a legit team and beating them on the road is not an easy task. Overtime loss.

@Alabama is the one SEC game that should not have been lost. We were out of sync, Johnny O in foul trouble, and cut it to two.

@ Texas A&M was a travesty. We proved later in the season how much better we were than the Aggies. We played poorly and gave them too many looks. Still, this was a winnable game.

@Georgia was a legit loss. WE just never matched up well with the Dawgs and they were longer than us.

@Arkansas saw us lay 2nd game vs. a much better team. Not many win on their court.

@Kentucky could have very well been a win. Look how that looks now. UK is a team with SEVEN guys who are NBA ready tomorrow. We have two at tops, but ultimately Johnny O is the only one ready to get a look tomorrow. This game, on a neutral court, easily goes our way. UK was much better than their record or NCAAt seed. NO team in America has as much raw talent.

@Florida...no explanation needed.

Georgia at home saw a very flat and tired team play with UGA most of the game until the end. With a deafening crowd and shots falling, we would have won.

Kentucky in the SEC tourney was bad timing, We caught a hot team and lost momentum in the 2nd half.

If we win 7 of those 10 games, we would have had 26 wins and with exception of Tennessee, Florida, and maybe a Georgia and the UK tourney loss, we were never blown out by the others. What a difference a possession or two makes.

We thought UAB and Butler would be better than they were. A road win at Texas Tech and a solid win over A 10 St. Joseph's that made the 64 and nearly the round of 32 proved. That game, we were real.

We beat teams that at the time were good/NCAAt caliber:

Butler
St. Joe's
Texas Tech
UAB
Mizzou
Kentucky
Arkansas
Texas A&M
Vandy twice

Yeah only two made the tournament, but at the time they were solid wins. Our only real ugly losses were to Rhode Island and at Bama. If we in at least those two, the bubble watch would have had us.

I see it was a 7 game swing that could have gone in our favor...5 at the least.
Hopefully, all non-seniors return and make this team a preseason top 25.

I feel like CJJ is slowly trying to implement a 40 minutes of hell style of play, but is 1 possibly 2 recruiting classes away from having the depth he wants to be able to do it. His reluctance to use the press in certain situations (especially road games) I think showed this. He likes to sub and when Morgan went down it hurt the rotation. I think he also showed that Hammink and Odo are not good enough ball players to contribute to this team on a regular basis.

I truly think with the addition of Gray and Hornsby, CJJ will be able to start fully implementing what he wants to do. with TQ progressing the way he is, taking JOB out of the equation ( ), we will way up there in possessions per game along with many other offensive categories.

I'm really excited to see how Martin treats the off season. If he comes back in better shape, I think this team should finish 4th or better in the conference, and earn an at large bid to the tourney

I think you are pretty spot on with this. I understand not wanting to use the press a lot but I felt like we didn't use it enough. I honestly would press after each first basket of the game and half. I would also crank up the press if we get up say 8 or 10 to try and blow the other team out of the water.

I feel like Odo is useless in the press and really was a huge disappointment. I knew he wouldn't be good on offense but he was just bad all around.

While LSU has some very good players, the difference between LSU and SMU was depth. LSU was noticeably tired towards the end of the second half. We're unable to keep up with a team that uses so many guys. Especially considering the pace of both teams.

Next year, we'll be able to have get a 9-10 man rotation going.

I was hoping we could go that deep this and it looked like we might early because everyone was actually playing fairly well. then morgan, darcy, odo, banana became after thoughts and Tq was really struggling early in sec play.

I think I unfairly expected way more out of Darcy this year. The kid has the skill, you can see it, but he desperately needs to put on about 25 pounds of straight bulk

I expected more out of Odo. I thought he would be good for rebounds, put backs and good d. He was worse than i ever imagined him being.

I agree. It's odd because during warm ups and practice footage he doesn't look that out of place. then he gets in the game and it looks like he's trying to play a different sport

eta: this team is so fricking frustrating. I never thought I'd be this bummed about basketball season ending

It had so much potential and we had two really exciting moments where it looked like we turned the corner. I really thought the UAB drubbing was going to be us tuning a corner and leading to a great conference slate but we stumbled around again in early conference play. Then when we beat up on uk and arky in back to back games I thought we arrived
