Got the bug, kayak will let me fish more, and I've been having the itch to get one for a couple years now. Gonna buy the new 2014 Ascend FS12T sometime in the next few weeks. Can't decide if I want the tan or the blue

Any suggestions on things I need to get started? I have a few things from when I set up the pirogue to fish out of.

I'm getting:
Anchor trolley
Paddle
Light/flag
Fish bag
Milk crates (gonna take a couple and chop em up and make a Frankenstein milk crate to fit the tank well area behind the seat)
Broom handle stake out pole/push pole
PVC for rod/net/light holders
Already have a 3 gallon screw top bucket for front tank well
Already have a PFD
Already have anchor/line
Already have marine dry bag if that becomes necessary
Already have small cooler for da beers

What am I missing?

Also....Sup.

Lifeproof case on phone, probably gonna ziploc the others and keep it in floor storage compartment. I'd like a small pelican case but those things are eagle pussy

Congrats! I just bought the blue FS12T myself. It's a fine rig for the money. I don't bring very much with me at all though. Ice chest, rods and reels, one of those plano bait containers rigged out for whatever I'm fishing for. My PFD, Anchor and Paddle.

Me and my daughter out for a paddle this past weekend.

I do need a fish grip. I've got my aluminum pliers with lanyard for belt loop that I got for offshore, but fish grip I forgot.

Suggest any brand that's significantly cheaper than boca grips?

List looks pretty spot on. I bought a Native 14.5 slayer last week. Will make a thread with pics later.

Post a review when you get it. If I don't find something used in my price range in the next week or so I'm going get the same boat.

ETA: I want a tan one.

Paddle leash. Do not go out unless you have a leash. One time I unclipped my leash, my paddle fell out and was about 20 yards from the yak. Good thing I was fishing Pensacola and it was July.

eta: good to see you again

Lifejacket for your lifeproof case. It's great, you can wear it around your neck and take pics no problem. Also, I made a 12v Bluetooth radio out of an ammo can, nice to have phone out for listening to tunes.

Wal-Mart has mustard boca knockoffs for cheap. Haven't had a problem yet. Get a float to strap them to.

Serious question for you yakers.....do you get cramped sitting in the same position for so long? I'd be interested in getting a yak, but it just seems to me it would be uncomfortable after a while.

I've been thinking of getting that life jacket for Lifeproof case for a while now.

And I use small pieces of pool noodle on stuff for floats. Did that when I started surf fishing. Cheap and when they break down, cheap to replace
