Not the worst diesel they made. Will cost a few bucks to get it reliable.

Theres a reason Ford only made that model for 2 years. Id find an '07 which were damn good trucks or an '11.

It's the 6.0 that's shite. Ith 6.4 is a little better and like anything else, they have had some problems. Maintenance is the key to having a diesel. Depending on how it was taken care of can provide a lot.

Does an 07 have a 6.0? If so you may be the first person in history to recommend a 6.0

I would pass.
Fin's had good luck with his, but he's in bed every night by 9 reading the Good Book.
They are very hit or miss for the rest of us.

Look for a Duramax. Or get some earplugs and buy a CumminsDodgeRam.

The 6.4 replaced the 6.0 shortly after it came out. The main issue with the 2008-2010 is the way the engine is mounted and if there is an engine problem, you have to remove the box to get to it. (They say this is not true with newer models but I saw a 2013 with the box removed In The shop a few weeks ago due to the fuel system going bad) Sure there are horror stories on line about the 6.4 just like every other automobile out there. Who goes online and brags about how good their engine is running? If you can get reports of the maintenance performed as well as pull the vin to see any recall work , get an ext warranty, and enjoy the truck. I love mine

The way i was always told was the diesel before the 6.0, maybe 7. Whatever (early 2000s)and 6.0 and now the 6.7 turbo were better trucks than the 6.4. Maybe i was told wrong, def no diesel expert for sure... Apologize if im mistakn, didnt mean to offend the diesel gods of this board.

ETA: been lookin for a diesel myself so maybe this thread will help to prevent me in buying a POS.

I agree. The 6.4 is no where the best, but the 08s,9s and 10s are given the bad wrap due to the 6.0. I have an 08 6.4 and a 14 7.3. The 7.3 is a beast. But my 6.4 has been a. Good truck as well I actually like the look of the 08-11 better than the new model

7.3 is too old now, IMHO.

If you can swing It, buy the 6.7.
If not, buy an 08+ Duramax.

Very debatable. The 6.4 is a 200k mile throwaway motor.

Ask hammertime how his worked out.
