Best airport to get to Times Square?

I am not an experienced traveler at all, and I am looking for the easiest possible way to get to Times Square, NY from an airport in that area.
Flying out of Shreveport, and I am being given the options of Newark or Laguardia, final destination is the DoubleTree Hotel in Times Square.

LaGuardia by Taxi - JFK if you want to use their public transport
Never done Newark
Never done Newark

Newark. Hop on NJ Transit into Penn Station and it's less than a 20 minute walk from there.

I'm sorry you have to go to Times Square.

Newark is a shithole and will never fly into that third world airport again.
That said, unless you are using public transport I would look into a private car service over a taxi. Price is about $10-15 extra, but well worth it. Can't stress that enough.
Also, doing public transport with bags sucks arse.

Newark has always been better for me. Cheaper and more direct flights.

that would suck with baggage

I actually stayed at that exact hotel in Times Square a couple years back. Flew into JFK (got a great deal so it was with it) & took a cab to the double tree. Cost of the cab was about $45

I guess it depends how much luggage you have. Pedestrian traffic is relatively doable to maneuver through walking down 7th Ave to get to Times Square. Once you get into that area, though... All bets are off.

uber x isn't a bad price here. not sure about NYC, but I'm sure it's not ridiculous.

Used it in December in NYC and it wasn't bad at all and was extremely convenient and easy

Fly to whichever airport is cheapest.

I HIGHLY doubt they are allowed to pick up people from the airport in NYC.

I'd probably pick Laguardia over Newark, just because I think it's a tad closer, but the airport you pick doesn't really matter in my experience. I definitely would reserve a car service instead of a taxi. You can make a reservation online and you'll get a Lincoln town car or similar waiting for you for maybe $5-$10 more than the cab ride will cost. Don't take a train and make a 20 minute walk with your luggage unless you really can't afford to spend $50 on getting dropped off at your hotel.

Ms Pop would rip my nuts off if we hopped out and I told her we had to kick rocks for 20 minutes with luggage.
