I've been watching the Steeler's Dynasty on NFL Network and of course the Steelers first SB was played at Tulane Stadium. It was suppose to be at the SD but it wasn't complete. I realized I never laid eyes on Tulane Stadium. Where was in located and when did they tear it down?I do know Don Shows told me Jonesboro Hodge played John Curtis in the state championship and it was one of the last games ever played there. Can someone help me out?

It was right in the middle of a neighborhood I'm pretty sure. Parking was a nightmare.

Type in 6401 Willow Street in Google Maps. According to Wikipedia, that's the site

Toward the Claiborne side of campus right next to the baseball field and practice football field.

It's always been difficult for me to imagine Tulane having a bigger football stadium than LSU.

looking at the pictures you can't help but wonder if some of the very same NIMBYs who were happy to get Tulane Stadium torn down are still living there and fought Yulman from getting approved.

Part of Turchin is on the property. Yulman is very close to the original site, I believe.

No doubt about it. And if it's not the same people, it could very well be their kids.

Certainly the NO natives on here have some great stories to tell but I just remember attending games and how much noise there was with the fans stomping their feet on the metal stands.
Back in the day, LSU - Tulane was as big an instate rivalry as there was in the country.

It was not where the new stadium is being built

Where the old stadium used be now houses two upperclassmen dorms, a PJ's, brown quad, and a parking garage. The old stadium was in front of the Reilly center, the new one is behind it

thanks for the assist

ETA: Perfect location for the stadium IMO. I am hoping they allow students and fans to tailgate at brown field and the reilly tennis courts area. Would make for a great atmosphere.

That pesky dry campus rule would need to be relaxed, but seeing as they do that for crawfest then I don't see why they couldn't allow it for 6 saturdays out of the year

Seeing this pic makes the Sugar Bowl look epic, like our version of the Rose.

I can totally see them relaxing the alcohol rules on campus for games. I would hope the administration would be smart on this one.

Same here. It would really help turn the program around. Students would love the chance to hang out all day and drink and go to a game it takes 5 minutes to walk to.

Yep. Back then you had the Rose Bowl, the real Sugar Bowl, the real Orange Bowl, and the Cotton was still in the real Cotton Bowl.
