If you can get access I recommend reading the Barrons article on seeking alpha.
It was an eye opener to see in print what we all know.
I know - no link - it links out my subscription

Can you give a brief summary?

Seeking Alpha growth
Articles written by self directed investors
250 articles a day
Troubling press in recent weeks
Lack of editorial standards
Removing favorable articles of stock that ended up tanking
Writers approached by companies to write favorable articles
Pros cons of anonymity in financial journalism
Hammers away at stay at home investors or college student writers
Seeking alpha working to improve site quality

Isn't Seeking Alpha the Bleacher Report of the financial world?

I'd say that's zero hedge.

To offer an alternative perspective, I find this interesting as well.
Study shows Seeking Alpha has better stock predicting abilities than Wall Street.

Barron's digital subscription from today:
Headline "Big Bank Stock Rally Looks a Wobbly on Charts"
Sub article on front page of iPad digital edition from today "Buy Bank of America"
Unreal

So basically, Barron's wrote a hit piece on an admittedly inferior competitor, but still a competitor nonetheless.
I like SeekingAlpha but I'll admit I only read the conference call transcripts on earnings reports. I think it's safe to assume that all sources of analysis are suspect and that the retail investors are best to do their own reasearch, but that's just me.
