Can we start a petition for one or something?

Pretty sure I alone could keep one in business here.

Are there not enough chain restaurants in this town to fit your taste? Are there not enough true Mexican sites in town to get better than average Tex-Mex offerings in front of your face?

I'm shocked Coyote Boues hasn't single handedly closed every Tex-Mex/ Mexican food joint in the greater BR area. The only way I'd pick Chuy's over Coyote is if every road in town was in gridlock from the daily traffic grind that is BR and the hunger pains were causing my innerds to deteoriate.

A petition for Lupe Tortilla would be better.

Heard nothing but good about Chuy's. Was taken there on a business lunch in Katy, had fish tacos, etc (as others had recommended) and kept wondering where's the flavor? All just sort of bland.

Probably just me (have yet to acquire an affinity for Mex/Tex-Mex) but not because I'm not trying.

Disappointed and unimpressed.

Chuy's is alright...I don't long for it and rarely go to the one near me because it is perpetually lined-up around the block and isn't worth waiting that long for.

Would be there every week. Damn that place is good. But isn't it a Texas only "chain"? Pretty sure there's only like 4 or 5 of them.

Chuy's is not good. I grew up about a half mile from one in Dallas. If you want chain tex-mex then you want a Mi Cocina.

Chuy's is also not just a Texas thing. There is one in Nashville.

Mi Cocina is full of meh food wise, great margs though. But Dallas tex mex seems to be lacking anyways when compared to Houston. Also There is a chuys in Atlanta as well and is the best tex mex there.

They have locations as far as Indiana, and Virginia.

Growing up in Austin, there were only 3 locations most of my life. Now there's over 50.

I personally would rather a "quicker" option for mexican if we're going to import something from Austin. There's enough sit down table service joints and Qdoba, Izzo's, etc do nothing for me.

My vote goes to Torchy's.

Legit, for lunch you have to get there at 11 or you won't get a table. 2 tacos fill you up

Chuy's is legit Tex-Mex. Their Hatch chili sauce is AMAZING. I ordered Hatch chili seeds from New Mexico just so I could roast them & make the sauce. Their steak burrito is really good as well as their chuy-changa. I like it better than most chain Tex-Mex places, def better than Coyote Blues. Wish Lafayette would get one.

I can agree with this. Never been to Javier's but I hear it's great. I could debate Abuelos over Mi Cocina but it depends on what you get. Abuelos is more family atmosphere and Mi Cocina more trendy.

Went to Mi Cocina yesterday for lunch for my first ever visit. Not impressed. Chili con carne on top of enchiladas tasted like Hormel.

Went to Chuys for lunch today and their fajita steak burrito can't be beat. Good place for a chain and very consistent. Jalapeño ranch is strong.

Abuelos is consistent as well but you really have to know what to order and pick your spots. Across the board I can see why people would call it meh, but I like it.

No, I'm not a fatty eating out every day. It's my birthday and family was taking me out to lunch.

Oh, and 1000th post. I've been holding out for this!?!?

No doubt. Food comparable, atmosphere superior.
