I am looking to put in an in-ground pool and checking all options. Anyone have any experience with fiberglass pools? I will probably go gunite but am intrigued in saving $10k if I can.
Any OTers with experience?

Above ground from walmart. That way, when you realize no one uses it, you can just through it away.

Royal Pools in Breaux Bridge is legit if you want to go the FG route.
ETA: So is Reno Boats/Pools in Manchac. Both are long time customers of mine.

Sorry your friends and family don't like being around you. My family and friends have been counting down the days till the pool opens.

My parents put one in when I was in high school. Best investment they ever made if you ask me. And if you asked my girlfriends, 5 out of 7 would have agreed. The smoothness of the fiberglass was a big plus, if you know what I mean.

I've had a fiberglass for 10 yrs. love it. Price wasn't much different than gunite. The difference to me is gunite allows any shape you want and fiberglass is effortless to clean. I have never used algecide in my pool. Auto cleaner and manual vacuum 2-3 a summer and I'm good. Also get a white fiberglass cause colors fade

We had old friends in from Montgomery in town tonight and we all just got out of the pool. Their little ones had a blast!
On that note, spend the extra $4k and get a 400k BTU heater. We used it a bunch this past winter.
Gunite is the way to go. It can be shaped to just about anything giving you a wide array of pool shapes and curves.
I also put in a 6'x12' chair deck--a section that is part of the pool but only 6" deep. Kids love it as does our dogs!
Good luck with the project--it can get stressful and costly quickly.
