yeah my parents live in cincy now and i dont think people outside of ohio get how these fan bases feel about each other. pretty sure they were both gonna root for the winner. ohio state obviously more disappointed than dayton would have been, but that might be it.

It's a big deal for the Dayton program for sure but most Dayton grads are big Buckeye fans. I have several friends that played at Dayton that are huge Buckeye supporters.

But Dayton fans and Ohio State fans get along. Probably because Dayton doesn't have a football team. But there just isn't a rivalry unless it's Ohio vs Ohio State or Cinci vs Ohio State.
Ohio State lost to Cincinnati TWICE in the final game in the NCAAs in 61 and 62. My dad hates Cincinnati
But most OSU fans thought that Ohio State was gonna lose so I think that's a factor.

Yeah I'm pissed we lost but if I had to pick a team in Ohio to lose to it would be Dayton. Losing to Cincy, Xavier or Ohio would suck but it will happen at some point. There's a lot of talent and solid D1 programs on Ohio. Definitely a good problem to have.
I'm glad nobody remembers that exhibition loss to Findlay several yrs ago. Talk about embarrassing...
