Damn, I wish I would have known this before. Smokin' Triggers and Pellet Envy is competing. I've always wanted a taste of Johnny Trigg's ribs. They say they are the best.

Would love to attend if I could. Hopefully, some who do will be kind enough to give some reports.

Do they put out stuff for people to taste? Or do you pay for the stuff at each trailer where they are cooking?

How did this get by me!!!!!!!!

The pros like Johnny trigg and pellet envy dont have to give out any food to random people. They usually dont have people hovering around their setups unless they are friends.
The amatuers will give you some of whatever they are cooking after you tip their jar(any amount you wish).
That's how it's been in the past.
Walk over to red white and brew and have a beer if your out there.

A local team will win. Like they do Every. Single. Year.
It's a chamber of commerce event. I'll also wager the football coach's wife wins the Ponchatoula HS athletic booster club gumbo cookoff for the 10th year in a row.
And Edwin Edwards will hold a public office again. I love Louisiana

Supposed to do some yard and car work Saturday but I may walk over to downtown at some point. Got Chef's Evening at SELU Sunday night as well this weekend

You sound like a very happy person.
Come to Hogs for the Cause next weekend and change your mood.

Not really. Grand Champions for the last seven years (Professional Division):
2013 - Pellet Envy, Kansas City, Kansas
2012 - Hambones By The Fire, Yorktown, Virginia
2011 - Chix, Swine & Bovine BBQ, Jessup, Maryland
2010 - Quau, Brimfield, Illinois (I managed an 8th overall, that year)
2009 - Pellet Envy, Kansas City, Kansas
2008 - Smokers Wild, Sacramento, California
2007 - Buttrub.com, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida
For those that may not know, there are a number of local teams who cook in the Professional Division and that do quite well. It's just that none have been able to take Grand Champion, at least, within the last seven years. I'm not sure about before 2007 because the KCBS results only go back that far.
Now, if you're talking about the Backyard Division, then yeah, a local is gonna win it because, well, they're all locals....

I want to watch mr. Trigg cook
The beauty is in his simplicity

Not familiar with these but sounds like it's lots of fun.
Question: would someone like Franklin mop-up the competition or is having a thriving BBQ joint vastly different from competing in a BBQ cook-off?

Grand Champion - Cajun Blaze, Gonzales, LA.
Reserve Grand Champion - The Smokehouse Bandits, Durham, NC
Opened it up a little and had 61 pro teams competing, this year. A great job by Cajun Blaze against a lot of heavy hitters from all over!
For you Johnny Trigg fans, he took 7th overall!

BBQ is good but I mean really? People put way too much time into that shite. Countless amount of dishes that are better than a BBQ plate.
