Garden Talk-When did/will you put your plants in the ground?

This cold weather is screwing with my garden plans. We're still getting temps in the 40's & 50's at night & barely making it into the 70's during the day, soil is really not getting a chance to "heat up" enough to plant the garden. I'm getting pretty anxious about it because, by this time, I like to have my tomatoes, squash, & zucchini in the ground. Peppers really don't like cool soil, so I'm ok with waiting a little while before I plant my bell peppers & my Hatch seedlings still have another month before being ready. What say te OB Gardeners, have you planted yet, if so, what? I'm thinking about doing my tomatoes this weekend, can't wait too much longer.

I planted most of my seeds in starter cups last saturday. It will be 4 weeks or better before I move them from the garage to the ground.

Two more weeks, for sure.

Guess I'll hold off until the 1st. What tomato plants are y'all going with this year? Last year I went with some hybrid ones developed by LSU for the south Louisiana climate. They did ok but I found they didn't have the same taste as my usual Better Boy's or Creoles. I'll probably go back to those this year even though the others (can't recall the brand it was letters & #'s) did fair better when the temps got really hot & no rain.

I have already planted my garden. I planted bell peppers, cajun belles, jalapenos, banana peppers, creole tomatoes and hybrid burpless cucumbers and strawberries. Only the cucumbers died with the cold 2 weeks ago. Everything else is doing well. I am in Broussard.

Mine are sitting outside in those plant-the-whole-thing containers. They aren't exactly going nuts so I'm not in a hurry to get them down. Bright side is I'm not rushed and have all my soil in good shape.

Planted our tomato plants over a week ago. Looking great so far.
