Liberal press is a conservative myth though, right?

I imagine this is primarily to ensure he brings certain admin positions to the conversation. Otherwise we'd get a lot of "we'll get back to you on that"

I'm sure GOP administrations are held to the same standard.

In fact I vaguely recall reporters being overheard plotting prepared questions for a Mitt Romney press conference.

The funny thing is, even with advanced knowledge of the questions, they still manage to f it up

At first I was thinking censorship but then I thought it might really help carney prepare. What would stop ed Henry from Fox News from asking jay a different question than the ones he submitted? If carney quit calling on him at the press conferences it would only raise red flags. As much as despise this administration I don't think this issue is that big a deal.

But why go on TV? If Carney gets the question in advance and the reporter gets the answer in advance; isn't it all an act after that?

I think the prepared things are just starting points for the discussion. You want Carney reasonably prepared to discuss the things you want answers to. If you start asking questions about Estonia without any pretext, I doubt Carney will have an answer. Why is that useful to the media or to the public?

I would like to know if this a common practice from past administrations. If not, this only confirms a majority of the "press" is a willing to aid this administration

I doubt past ones were such video events like they are now with the internet. I'd bet Bush or Clinton started the practice.

So does "I haven't seen that article yet" mean "you didn't properly submit that in writing"?

I'd bet it goes further back than that, could go back all the way to FDR

This is not unique to the Obama administraion. It's been going on for a long time.

This is like saying Carney knew the outcome for the last superbowl but still took Denver. For someone who knows what he is suppose to know in advance he appears quite clueless at times.

I thought it was common knowledge. Even when the president gives press conferences, the first few reporters he picks are always scripted. It's a part of the ebb/flow give/take nature of press corps in Washington
