Spiderman vs. X-Men

Was Spiderman a member of the X-men?
Because technically, he was a mutant right?
Although, not born so. Was there a delineation?
Maybe he was discriminated against and looked down upon by all the naturally born mutants.
Kinda like how dark black people look down on the lighter creole black folks.

So, his genes were mutated, mixed with spider DNA, and he's not a mutant?
Sure.
Sure.

Spiderman isn't a mutant.

All mutants weren't X Men.

In the MU, Spider-Man is considered a "mutate" not a mutant. Other mutates include the Hulk, Fantastic Four, and Daredevil.

Yes. They make it pretty simple. You have to be born with powers to be classified a mutant.

So why ask then?

He's an altered human.
The Fantastic Four are altered humans.
Marvel Glossary - Altered human
Mutants are something different.

I am bored, so this is entertaining.
I love that I created a whole argument on here.
I still say Spiderman is a mutant.

No you didn't. You don't understand the nature of these comic book characters - ergo you are ignorant.
Apparently wilfully so, as you asked, "Was Spiderman a member of the X-Men?" - Most 8 year olds know that Spiderman was affiliated with the Avengers for a long time, but was not really a team guy until very recently in the comics.
Virtually no connection between Spider-Man and X-Men, save a few cross-overs, videogames, etc.

I do remember an episode of the 90s animated series where he went to the x-mansion. He was turning in to a giant spider or some shite like that.

The muntants were considered a different sub-species than normal humans. They were a naturally occuring evolutionary leap in the human species. Like the link Ace provided says, true mutants were born as homo superior, while humans like Peter Parker & Bruce Banner were still born as homo sapiens. Now Peter Parker and Bruce Banner did mutate as a result of outside factors, but they were evolutionary leaps like mutants such as the X-men.

Why? This doesn't make sense. There's nothing to interpret, the definition is quite clear on this point.
BORN with NATURAL powers = Mutant
(In some books, there are children of parents who change themselves - see Hulk movie 2003 and the like - but they STILL aren't mutants.)

Because he's bored and thinks it's fun to come on here and start a pseudo-argument wherein he comes off as a complete moron and blindly holds to his pre-conceived notion despite the apparent quest for clarification on the topic. Probably wants to irk a few people for funsies.

I know. I thought this board rises above that though. There's no need for pointless debate...
Unless it's about the validity of the world of Cars.

Unfortunately this board drops into the O-T realm of idiocy on the rare occasion. This isn't quite that bad, but yeah, Dottie dropped it on purpose.
