Guilbeau trolls two fan bases with one column

I know :Guilbeau didnt read: but I saw this column blowing up all over facebook this morning and I had to laugh
ULL makes the Big Dance and Guilbeau writes a column about it but sticks LSU into it. Instead of ULL fans saying "wait a minute, this has nothing to do with LSU, go to hell Guilbeau" I am seeing a ton of ULL people buying into Guilbeau's premise and sharing the column. I hate to tell them but Guilbeau is not laughing with you, he is just trolling you.

Louisiana' making NCAA Tournament ruffles LSU feathers
quote:
At about 5:15 p.m. central time Sunday, the Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) flashed the word, “Louisiana” on its NCAA Tournament bracket during its selection show next to Creighton. The No. 14 and No. 3 seeded teams, respectively, will meet on Friday in San Antonio.
Surely, a mob of some LSU fans -- not all -- got in their RVs and headed to New York City looking for Dan Rather and anyone else associated with the network, formerly or otherwise, for another grievous mistake.
“The Ragin Cajuns out of the Sun Belt,” CBS’ Greg Gumbel said as the bracket flashed on the screen. Seconds later, CBS analyst Clark Kellogg referred to the Cajuns as “Louisiana-Lafayette,” but that will not soothe those who act like they have had their fingernails ripped off when the University of Cajun is called “Louisiana,” for crying out loud.
I saw an LSU athletic department official get so angry when CBS had “Louisiana” next to Tennessee during the Cajuns’ loss to the Volunteers in the 2000 NCAA Tournament that I thought LSU just went on probation. He actually called the network to complain and try to get the name changed on the air. It’s really uppity and just crazy how some LSU folks feel about this non-issue issue.

Always the best idea.

So has he officially given up on actual journalism to write about "some LSU fans" and a "non-issue"?
And also lol at Guilbeau calling someone else uppity.

Yes. This. They are going to think that a mainstream media member is on their side and are going to share this with all their friends, not realizing that this is all satire/sarcasm

I was waiting for this thread. You left out the dumbest part:
Glenn, you are an idiot.
quote:
And don’t give me the Louisiana-Monroe argument. It was a bit shallow of the Lafayette school to get the former Northeast Louisiana University to join it in the fight to become UL or ULL. But Monroe is not really in Louisiana, culturally and gastronomically. There is South Louisiana, and there is North Louisiana. The border’s about at Bunkie. Nothing against either area. They’re just different.
The things Louisiana is most known for – food, festivals, bayous, sportsman paradises, blackened redfish, music, Jazz, Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, Blues, Zydeco, LSU football, the Saints, tourism, crime, corruption, Catholicism – exist more so in South Louisiana than North Louisiana. That’s just a fact.
Glenn, you are an idiot.

It was pretty "uppity" of the Sun Belt Conference to tell the Ragin Cajuns that their name is to be referred to as "UL-L".

that is what caught my eye. well also the ULL fans gloating with delight and spreading this column all over facebook
the whole column is suppositions and speculation
quote:
Many Louisiana State University (LSU) people, employees and fans cannot stand it when people refer to their neighboring college in Lafayette as “Louisiana,” which the announcers did frequently during the Cajuns’ thrilling, 82-81 victory over Georgia State Sunday afternoon in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament championship game.
quote:
“Louisiana? There’s no school or team by that name,” a few of these LSU folks said in various forms Sunday as “Louisiana” kept beaming across the nation on CBS during the Cajuns’ win. So infantile.
quote:
LSU people insist UL call itself by its official name and not by Louisiana, yet LSU people here never refer to LSU by its official name, which is Louisiana State.
quote:
Don’t kill yourself over it, LSU people, but LOUISIANA is in the NCAA Tournament.
This is weak even by Guilbeau's usual garbage standards

He does this for clicks and the morons happily give him what he wants.

For the record, I have no problem with Louisiana State.

Even more, he disparages the entire northern part of the state, when he is the LSU beat writer for the Gannett owned papers in Shreveport, Monroe, and Alexandria...

When the LSU 2015 campaign closes, why not change our name to The Louisiana State University similar to The Ohio State University
