Competition with Drop box. DB just gave me a bunch of free space.

What are the standard limit restrictions for yahoo, etc? I think free gmail only lasts up to 25GB.

for some reason my google drive account has major issues syncing with my desktop

dropbox has almost no issues, but my google drive folder on my desktop never syncs with my actual gdrive

Cloud storage is commoditized and Google prefers you keep using it's services than leave for a Dropbox style storage that might be cheaper/a better value.

Well damn. I hope Dropbox steps up to the plate, too.

Google drive syncing is definitely not as seamless as dropbox but google gives you more space for free.

I use them both.

I need to look into Google Drive. I rely exclusively on Dropbox.

You are the product they are buying. The 1.99 covers some cost, but they are selling your info or huge profit.

I like the offline storage option with Google drive. I use drive for all my personal files.

I use dropbox for work though because it syncs better. I have a dropbox account on each rig I'm over and can pull up their job files anytime I want.

ETA each time you sync up with another dropbox account they bump up your free storage limit.

What info? Are you serious? I keep some shite on there like copy of my passport, work files, tax returns, etc.

100GB for $1.99 per month is freaking amazing. I have Google Drive, but really like Dropbox better. I hope this forces Dropbox to substantially lower their prices. $99 for 100GB is more than I'm willing to spend, therefore I currently use Drive. But, if Dropbox would get more competitive with Drive....I'd hop back to Dropbox.

I love competition.

Been using the free offerings for both but 100 gigs for $2 a month is too sweet to pass up.
