Anyone else have toons on P99 that roams TD?

For anyone unaware, it's an emu server dedicated to making EQ from Original/Kunark/Velious era as classic as possible. Velious is officially in beta testing right now.

Having played original EQ during that timeline, they do a damn fine job of replicating the original game.

I have no fricking clue what you just said.

I played til I hit 55 a few months ago. Once I saw how the end game worked with guilds having fully buffed characters camped at every big target, I decided against continuing.

They overhauled the raid system since then. I'll put it this way. My guild "Taken" has killed every Kunark/Classic mob outside of VP after the changes and has legitimately competed for FFA mobs against the neckbeards. The variance was reduced and the amount of people from any guild allowed to track in a zone during a raid window is limited to 2.

For those who miss old EQ. The server population is around 1300. They have legitimate server staff to police RMT, petitions, etc. Boxing is not allowed and will get you perma-banned if caught.

Classic EQ was my favorite MMO ever played by quite a vast margin, and this server really does an excellent job of providing that experience.

It's free. All you need is a copy of Titanium.

Wow, 5 years of lurking down the drain, and EQ is what it took to get me out. I am very intrigued by this. I think i heard about it a long time ago but decided to go with WoW or something. I did get the free lvl 85 character email from SOE. I played back in the day for like 6 or 7 years. What is the easiest way to go about getting started with P99??

just google search p1999 or p1999 forums...there are posts there that can help you setup. But you need to get a copy of the Titanium EQ client.

I was involved in this pre-WoW

Great idea that suffers from simply not having enough people online.

I'm out of IPT invites, but I know EQ Titanium is on IPT if anyone out there has a spare invite for you.

If not, PirateBay has a Titanium torrent as well, although I really dislike that site.

I have just started 99 a couple months ago and it is great. Whats your toons name? I currently have a live sub, but actually like 99 better.

Just rolled my free lvl 85 toons on all six account, holy crap this game has changed even in the last couple of years. Even if you dont play i suggest logging in and rolling a new or converting a low level to 85. Per toon:

15K plat
full heroic gear
mount
two 24 slot giant 100% wr bags
stats food and drink
4-5k aa's
most skills maxed or almost maxed
all spells to lvl 85

Everquest we remember started dying after Planes of Power. Once every year or two I start a new toon from scratch and the lower zones are ghost lands, I often had Padual Caverns to my self for hours. The game does not attract any new players and the current player base is almost all high levels. It would be almost impossible for someone to pick up the game and start playing at 85 unless they had someone showing them the ropes.

Even in it's current state I would play EQ over WoW anytime, the size and the depth of the world just blows WoW out of the water.

I would argue the seeds of decline started with SoL (4th expansion), and the inclusion of content that divided players into haves and have nots.

A lot of people claim it was with PoP, LDoN didn't help. I was on one of the last "rotation" servers The Rathe and man that caused a lot of drama. I could find great groups and a great community up until Gates of Discord and that's when I stopped playing full time.

The vast content and the community will never be done again, and it was done with out quest pointers. The quests were hard to find and you had to work to figure them out and complete them. You needed team work to progress and your rep was your life in the game.

How long does it take for the EQEmulator forum to send a validation email?? I have a forum account but it wont let me set up a login account without validating my forum account first, but they never sent the validation email. It let me change my password, and had to send me a password change email, so I know they have the right email address. Won't let me post on the forums or create a login account, says I dont have access...

there was some posts over the weekend on the p1999 forums with people basically asking the same thing.

quote:

Their email server is working again. I couldn't find a way to resend the activation email but after creating another account got the email and activated.

that was posted on Friday...try clearing your cache/cookies on your browser and then maybe do it again with a different email or something?
