Submitted my info and everything at the beginning of December. I know they changed computer systems and that transition took a little while, but I have been waiting 4.5 months without hearing a damn thing

Do yall know anything, or has anyone submitted in that time and heard anything back?

Damn. The state might pass constitutional carry before you get your permit.

I put every arrest that was on my record. Only one conviction from 13 years ago for DWI. The rest of the stuff got dropped

FIL submitted his around the same time as you, and he received his CHP a few weeks ago. He had a clean record though, so it might have gone through the system quicker.

Go read the statute. I know in MS they have to accept or deny an application within 45 days.

Called at the beginning of January and they said they were backed up from the computer switch. I just think it is taking an obnoxiously long amount of time to plug some shite into a computer and sign some damn papers

I thought the normal time was six weeks

mine went through last year in 3.5 months with a few arrests, so they must be really backed up. I do know that my brother had no arrests and he got his back about 3 weeks before me, so maybe just hold off 2-3 more weeks before you make a fuss.

It seems like they have just one guy working in the damn office. Either that, or the paperwork has to go through 14 miles of red tape

DWI

Most states will DQ you from having a CC permit if you have that on your record. I'm not sure in LA but some states even consider a DWI a violent offense. I would definitely research that out. Best of luck to you

Nice I didn't know LA did that. Probably just government being government then

That is ridiculous! FL only takes about 45 days or maybe even less time these days. I got my initial CC back in 2009.

Good luck.

Just got word back. They said because of my arrests, the Sgt has to go over it personally. Everything was in the computer, but they were backed up a couple of hundred applications

I have a friend in the Concealed Handgun Permit Unit -- send me an email (personaldefense@cox.net) and I can give you her name.

Unless her name is Sgt. King, I doubt it would help. Already had a senator call her and tell her to get it done(dad's buddy; I'm not that important). I gave her a no-bill letter 2 weeks ago and haven't heard anything back. Time for another call today
