Crawfish season expected to be best in years
This is a good sign if my pond needs to cycle through a year or so to establish a catchable population. If that's the case, at least it got started on a good note.

I think too much cow shite messed up the water quality. It never produced an eatable sized crawfish.
I moved my operation to another low spot on some property we own that doesn't have cattle. We caught a few native reds in there but not many total pounds of crawfish for the length of soak in commercial traps. I dropped the ball on stocking it last year. Hope to drop a sack in there at the end of the season when prices come down.
Eta: I'm also easing my way in to get rights to fish the pond in my sig pic. It's fished commercially, but I had a few drinks with the person that owns it and asked if he'd mind if I bought my son down to run some nets from the bank.
