I could buy a lot of crawfish for the costs of the smallest one.

That and my cows would tear it up...

Update:

I seeded it with about 3/4's of a five gallon bucket of really nice sized reds. No whites, I'm racist like that...

I forgot to take pictures, but the water has darkened a lot and those weeds are now about 8 inches out of the water and quadrupled in density.

I hope it works... I was able to get some fresh caught crawfish as suggested.

Laugh now. Next spring I'll be set. I was dipping them out every pull, so I figure the population density of babies is high.

I have a pond behind my house and the alligator grass is horrid. I'm about to pull it out with an excavator and hope I can manage it with spray in the spring when is starts to pop back up. I have also thought of buying a few sacks and dumping them in to see if they flourish. Hope it works out for you

If all else fails you have some fine fishing bait there.

LSU used to have projections based on lbs per acre to be harvested by how many babies in a dip. 2 or more is very good. Get some pillow traps.

If it's full of those in November, I think they'll be big in 4 or 5 months and ready for a good thinning or two.

Sweet. This was my test...

I pulled 5 dips about once every 5 yards down the bank. There were 1 to 3 in every dip. No blanks...

You good. Is there vegetation for them? If not throw a couple of square bales in the pond.

It was about 1/3 covered with alligator grass at the end of the summer, and I threw fish guts and heads in there a few times this year.

Look at the doo doo veins on my babies...

Hard to make people understand this ...even some farmers.

Try to find some alligator grass. they will stay in that stuff all the time and grow fast

I had a good stand of it in the pond.

One reason that made me a spot check my pond was that I knew some crawfish farmers just recently started running nets again to officially start the new season.

Do you think these will grow faster than I expect? I was thinking these wont be eating size until next March or April.

I think you should try it. I'll keep this updated.
