I've been doing a little research on this myself since I moved to Texas. Been looking for cheap land to put ponds on, Texans pay out the ARSE for crawfish!!!!! It would be cool to be able to go "out back" and catch your own to boil up. Good luck!!!

I fish north of "B.D." for them, but it only has a small window when it catches a bunch of rain. When it's good, it's great but it's not consistent at all.
We've tried the ditches up and down 1 and 71, but never really did much.
I've got 36 triangle flat bottom nets and 21 industrial wire triangle traps if y'all ever want to get together and try this spring...
I'm all about some crawfishing, I learned from Hardhead in the spillway off I-10 just outside of New Orleans.
The plan is to go private in the future!

Between that and the corn, it's going to be hard not to hunt it in the fall.
I've flushed a pair of wood ducks out of there a few times. But seriously, when the water level drops around mid summer, it might not hurt to scatter a little seed rice around the edges. I think the cows would eat it though when it comes up green.

What is the story with this? I've seen a round bale sitting in a small pond in the front yard of a home just North of Jonesville.
Do you want to leave it baled? I was thinking of raking up a lot of the excess around wher I hay my cows and dumping that in there.
Do I need hay if that natural grass comes back on strong?

it's just a mix of all kinds of varieties. stuff that gets spilled at the store and can't be sold as CL111 for example, but it will still grow just as good
so just a mix up of different varities. You might get all Clearfield hybrid, you may get cocodrie

I got ya, we used to sell corn and soybean like that for food plots at an Ag center I worked at briefly.
What about the hay? leave it baled, scatter it? Is the purpose just to have some kind of fiber for water vegitation like elephant snot and algae to grow on?

the people I've seen do it just leave the bales. We don't do it in our operation.
