I think people are overlooking P Rob's potential as our 2nd CB this coming season. He showed serious flashes in 2011 and even in 2012. His development was a bit stunted with the Spags zone cover debacle which went away from his strengths, but I think he has a chance to be a legit corner for this team.

Clearly he is still a question mark coming back from injury, but I think the coaches trust him and he could thrive in Ryan's man cover schemes.

nah, he excelled in 3Gs man scheme. Basically the same as RR scheme except different packages.

in 11 he ranked as the 8th best corner, Sherman ranked 7th.

Playing with Lewis, Byrd, and Vacarro will make things easier for him.

If PRob thrives in that secondary with Lewis, KV and Byrd there (plus White playing Nickel) we are going to be borderline impossible to pass on.. Let's hope your word works out. THRIVE.

Corey white isn't terrible either. Yeah he dropped that pick and fumbled out the end one but he is still a solid 3 or 4 corner

This is largely my point. I think people underestimate his potential because they think about 2012. If he regains his speed and quickness after the injury, I think he will be a huge boost to this team. While White struggled at times, our DB's were still very solid with issues at safety with injuries. Next season safety should be 10x better now helping PRob and White.

why are you so skeptical? He ranked as the 8th best corner in 2011 with GW. In 2012 he had a horrible year, because of Spags. He will bounce back and be fine, unless his knee injury is that serious.

Either PRob or White will be good enough next season to be a number two.

He was better in 2011 under Williams than I remember.
Spags made him look like shite.

I still would prefer drafting one early on. If P-rob thrives then he can be the #3

Playing with a pass rush helps a lot too

I did not mean to come off as skeptical. I am merely hesitant. His injury WAS serious, plus I'm still a little scarred from his 2012 experience.

After getting Byrd I feel better about rolling into the season without signing a #2 CB(though we should definitely draft one in that scenario). I would still prefer to sign one if they come cheap enough($4m per or less).

But I do like the potential of both Robinson and White.

Robinson excelled in man coverage under Williams, but had occasional missteps. Under Spags he looked completely lost but I give everyone a pass for that season(frick YOU SPAGS!!!). The injury is more concerning to me. His best asset was speed so he really needs to come back fully healthy.

White is a tall, good press corner who can tackle well and cover the short stuff. He struggles some on medium stuff but my main concern is his deep ball technique. He just seems to panic even when in a good position.

Edit:
And I'll repeat this again, Robinson did win the nickel job over White before getting injured last year.

PRob and Butler are coming back next season!

Add them to Lewis, Vacarro, Byrd, Lofton, Galette, Cam Jordan and we have a pretty sick defense

Not to mention the Saints continually find gems in the late rounds and rookie FA

we just need to sure up the OL, WR, (still confused about Sproles), and probably a LB

SO PUMPED

the thing about White is

in 2012 he wasn't even supposed to play that much, but got forced into action

last year he came in as #4 corner and was our #2 by week 10

Because of injury only. Not saying he can't be a good number two with improvement, or maybe I'm misunderstanding your point, but if he is our number two and plays like he did last year it will kill us in the long run.

He should only get better, but he HAS to clean up his deep ball technique if he ever wants to be anything more than a nickel back.

what im saying is he was forced into action when he was gonna be developed and more of a project. I honestly think it helped more because of the experience he gained. I think he will develop into a decent guy for us over the years.

Robinson's injury happened in September. That was 6 months ago so the Saints should have a good idea where he stands physically by the draft (8 months post injury).

In th end we will see how he does, but between he and White, I think the Saints will be fine.

Ok that's the other way I thought you might be taking it. Yeah I think the trial by fire helped his development but he's not done being polished.

And I don't hate on our own guys unless they are clearly trash players and should be pulled but somehow keep starting(Jason David, Scott Shanle, Malcom Jenkins, Charles Brown, etc.). White is a guy I'm pulling for because he shows great potential. I just don't trust him at the moment.

Are we really calling a first round pick a project?
