FA CB Alterraun Verner would take less money to go to a winner. Well, sort of...

quote:

“I feel more compelled to go to a team that I think can win. I haven’t had that experience for the past four years in Tennessee,” Verner said. “Money is [priority] but it isn’t. I look at it differently. Some look at it tangibly. I look at it as more of a respect value. I would feel more obliged to go to a team that paid me $6 or $7 million and made me one of the highest-paid players on the team than go to a team that paid me $8 or $9 million and I wasn’t one of the highest-paid players on the team.”

So he'd take less to go to a winner if he's still one of the highest paid players on the team. But if he's not one of the highest paid players he wouldn't go there, even if its for similar money? He would rather take less to be one of the highest paid players on a team than take more to not be one of the highest paid players?

What?

Sorry I just thought this was pretty confusing and amusing quote.

he is saying that he is willing to take less money as long as the good players on that team are as well.
he isnt willing to take a pay cut just to give it all to another guy - its got to be spread out amongst several high end players. i agree with him, fwiw.

I know its all about his feelings about "being valued". But its still pretty damn retarded.

was really hoping verner would stay in nashville, but it ain't happening. They spent too much money on shitty DBs like michael giffin and a washed up Pollard and are letting a top flight corner walk...

Yea if they keep him, they have a ton invested in that secondary. I actually liked the leadership and physicality Pollard brought to the defense last year but we are paying him a good chunk of change.
