While speaking with someone this weekend and consuming a few adult beverages we starting talking guns. Next thing you know he is showing me his 9mm he has concealed.

I carry daily, except when I know I will be drinking and most of the time I won't even put it in the truck if I know also.

People do it. I don't. In fact, I don't drink anymore.

Seems like a huge liability if you get caught or used it. Whether it was justified or not, it will all be second guessed and I would end up being the bad guy.

Very stupid. Good way to get in trouble with the law or worse hurt someone.

BT is right. Even if everything was "right" w/ the use of deadly force (and there are ALWAYS "weak areas" w/ legal defenses), the involvement of alcohol will be a problem that won't go away. The prosecuting/plaintiff attorney will have a field day. Think what the trial would've been like if George Zimmerman had been drinking and had a detectable, albeit not high enough to normally cause impairment, alcohol level? Drinking alcohol and concealed carry are mutually exclusive. Do one or the other, but not both.

Were you at a bar or at a private residence? Not that it changes my thoughts much... At one of the places it's a terrible idea, at the other it's a terrible idea and illegal.

Very bad idea. As others have stated, this will be a significant factor if/when he uses the gun while drinking.

The permit to carry a concealed handgun shall be revoked by the deputy secretary when the permittee is carrying and concealing a handgun under any of the following circumstances:
The blood alcohol reading of the permittee is .05% or greater by weight of alcohol in the blood;
The permittee's blood test or urine test shows the confirmed presence of a CDS as defined in R.S. 40:961 and 964;
The permittee refuses to submit to a department certified chemical test when requested to do so by a law enforcement officer.

This is the law. So if it's above this you are considered impaired and can be in a world of shite with the law. Not to mention getting a heavy buzz or getting drunk while carrying is extremely irresponsible.

About 99% of the time, if I'm drinking, it's at the house or at friends'/family's house. No need for me to carry there. If I know I'm going out for some drinks elsewhere, it stays home.
