I know its been said around here and I'm all for it at a low price. Now Prisco is suggesting the same.

I know Prisco is a douche but I would like this move.

I think given his age now this would be a lateral move, but that's not really a bad thing(the dislike of DLP went a little overboard; Evans was hurt early and Grubbs was getting tossed like a rag doll at times).
He'd be cheaper which would be a win and we should be drafting a center for the future anyway.
1-2 year stop gap, same I would want DLP back for. And he's played next to Evans before so it'll only take some adjusting with Grubbs.

I'd be on board for this if the price were right.

Perzactly!

I'd rather draft one of the best centers in the draft in the 2nd or 3rd round

That's fine but just bring in Goodie and let the rook develop before just throwing him out there.

While this would initially sound like a good move, I don't think it fits the direction the FO seems to be going in & that's to get younger on offense. Plus the offensive line lost a nasty mauler when Nicks left in free agency. The middle of the O-line sorely needs someone who possesses that type of mentality. Nothing against Goodie but he isn't that type plus he's around the same age as Olin Kreutz was when he was picked up.

Right I mean we have Evans, Grubbs, Lelito, and Kelemete at C/G(we lump them together for roster purposes). None of them are true centers.
We could definitely use a veteran presence there. Same with T. We have Armstead, Harris, Jones, and Nsekhe. I assume we get at the least a vet minimum vet at each spot.

I understand this & I never implied that they should or could go out & sign an expensive veteran lineman. That isn't reasonable with the lack of cap space. There is always the option of poaching a lineman off of a team's practice squad that has O-line depth along with drafting a center for competition.

I honestly think we will get Jimmy signed to some kind of deal that gives him a big signing bonus and brings down that 7 mil + cap space he is eating up right now with the tag.
Right now we are 2.1 mil under the cap and we still need a CB

Yeah hopefully something gets worked out soon so that Graham current cap number comes down so that the FO can target & sign whatever positions they want to fill in through free agency. One would think something maybe worked out in the next 24 hours with free agency beginning Tuesday. Maybe some last second restructuring will occur as well.

I concur.

The next few days should be pretty interesting. Get your popcorn ready.

Actually a bigger signing bonus negates the savings. And no matter how we structure it he will likely only save $1-2m on the cap with a long term deal compared to the tag.
And we will be $5.2m under once Sproles is officially cut.
Graham example contract:
5 year $50m. $20 signing bonus.
Year one has $1m base w/$4m signing bonus for $5m cap hit(and that's best case scenario; it's likely to be higher).
It's actually better if we delay a year and keep him on the TE tag so his third year(when it starts getting expensive) hits in 2017(a year after we have to pay Jordan, Hicks, and Galette).

I don't think this is the direction the NFL and the Saints are headed. With veterans salaries headed up and rookies capped out, I think more rosters will have a hand full of high priced veterans and a bunch of guys on rookie and UDFA contracts.
