Should college basketball get rid of 1-and-1 free throws?

It's a pretty stupid rule, IMO. you take a charge, your team should just get the ball. miss the front end, and you get nothing out of it.

All levels of basketball should have the same rules.

I didn't think you shot FTs after a player control foul no matter what?

Was just about to say this, but I wasn't sure because I feel like I have seen teams shoot free throws after taking a charge this year

just saw it happen in the oregon/zona game. unless i blanked out for quick second and there was another foul or something

eta: ok, apparently i missed something.

regardless, 1-and-1 is still a strange rule.

It's artificial, just like moving the ball into the front court in the NBA. Those rules have no legitimate reasoning other than creating excitement. I hate both of them. People always say "Make your free throws and it doesn't matter." Well even the greatest FT shooters in NBA history missed 10% of their shots.

I didn't know it was possible to dislike this rule

I mean it makes games more exciting but it's completely illogical.

Still.

As far as the charge part... It's a personal foul. It's a team foul. It's a turnover. You get something out of it.

I see y'all realized that you don't shoot free throws on offensive fouls.

what about after the 10th foul you get 2 free throws?

It helps control the game as well

Unless rules have changed, you never get to shoot FTs when your team takes a charge.

A player control foul is never a shooting foul.

You don't shoot FT's on player control fouls. Not all offensive fouls are player control fouls.

You don't shoot free throws on team control fouls either.
