Lester argues that he can.
Or he argued that he can replace Thomas.

I can't remember.

Honestly, I think PT is next. But I wouldn't be butthurt if they kept him. I think he can still produce.

Yup.

And I saw little from Cadet that says explosive playmaker.
But he may get a golden chance.

He did catch 30 passes out of the backfield in 4 preseason games, which I'm pretty sure led the NFL in preseason. Returned punts and kicks, too.

What you give up in quickness you gain in size and durability.

Best thing to do would be promote from in house ($570k salary next year) and spend the money elsewhere. Drew Bress will make Cadet.

I don't think he can effectively and I'm hoping we make a play for McCluster. Younger faster cheaper.

I'm not ready. Since Payton has been here we've always had bush or sproles to be that mismatch out of the backfield. I'm sorry but that's not cadet. He can't shake guys and make the cuts like them he's just not as talented. We're gonna need a versitile guy like mccluster or we're gonna need a Archer/Seastrunck/D'Anthony type guy. Unless we're changing our offense, which I wouldn't be opposed to as drew ages

I'm not saying Cadet doesn't have a role, but he's no Sproles. Yes, he can catch, but he doesn't has that quick acceleration, that shiftiness that made Sproles such a mismatch.

Not against drafting a guy for it. Or getting Mccluster.

McCluster is younger than Sproles, faster than Sproles (can someone post that insane return he had), and will certainly get less than the $4.25m Sproles was set to get.

So 3 out of 3 is great.

In a thread about Travaris Cadet? Assumed "he" is Cadet, yes? And that McCluster is younger faster cheaper than "he"?

Anyway, people act like no one is going to go after McCluster and we could get him cheap. Someone is going to pay him close to what Sproles got, and even then, Sproles was 3 years older when he got his deal.

Cadet actually compares favorable to Joique Bell in basically every measurable. Bell caught 50+ passes in back to back seasons. Last year he posted a 10.3 ypc, which was better than Jamal Charles, Woodhead, Sproles, Forte, Moreno etc.... basically anyone not named Lesean McCoy. 9.3 the year before.

Oh yeah, Bell is 5'11" 220lb and ran a 4.68 (Cadet is 6' 205 4.67). You don't have to be a 4.4 170lb scat back to fill the role.

I should have clarified that he was Sproles being that we were talking about someone taking over his spot. I can see where the mix up came from.

What about Beckham Jr in the draft for returns?

ETa: and WR replacement

Don't think we should take him in the first but if he's there in the second sure. Draft is too deep at WR and thinner at some other spots we may need more.

That said, if the Saints have him or another guy rated way higher then I definitely see them grabbing one on the first.

Honestly it doesn't have to be a running back to take his role. Just someone that has quick burst and can get downfield with the ball in a hurry.
