Sources tell ESPN that Knicks GM Steve Mills recently met with Phil Jackson about becoming the team's next head coach.

According to Stephen A. Smith, Jackson informed the Knicks that he was not interested in the position at this time. It's no surprise. If the 68-year-old Zen Master is going to coach again, he'd want to take on a roster with far more talent than the one currently sported by the Knicks. And even if they can convince Carmelo Anthony to re-sign this summer, they're a long ways off from title contention no matter who is coaching the team.

Phil basically wants a stacked team to overshadow his coaching again.

lol, this would be fun to watch.

But yeah, if he takes the Knicks job, he should send Melo, Amare, and Tyson Chandler directly back to defensive trainers for a month. After that, the Knicks should make room where they can and try to sign a versatile guard. (prigioni/smith/felton are obviously not the answer.)

pretty much. he could rephrase it this way and say

well you see, I'm 68 and my body is tired. I don't want to spend those extra long hours preparing and improving players that just came into the league or are developmental projects.

I just want a set squad or a squad to come to me like what happened in Miami, and I will take over the coaching from there. Or if you can somehow get Melo to recruit noah and rose and form my super squadron and I will only coach in cali and at home.

Pipe dream but would be exciting as hell if it came true...

Hell, anyone would be exciting as long as Woodson is long gone. I don't see how he even made it to the All-Star break.

...oh, yeah I do. Two words. James Dolan.

Oh Christ. ESPN just REFUSES to let it go about the Knicks.

They suck. They will continue to suck. GET OVER IT. TALK ABOUT A TEAM THAT DESERVES THE ATTENTION INSTEAD OF MAKING UP shite ABOUT THE KNICKS!

Phil is 18-8 against Pop in the postseason. I'm not really sure how anyone can make a case for Pop. It's not like Pop hasn't had great players.

Yeah, because Phil's rosters have always lacked in talent.

He has officially been offered a front office position. Sweet! Someone in the front office that actually knows the game of basketball.

He never said Phil didn't have talent on his teams. His point is that they've both had great talent but its hard to make a case that Pop is a better coach than Phil. It's hard to argue with 10 championships as a coach.
