Soooo does crossfit work?

I've refused to buy into the hype but the crossfit pain train keeps rolling. Do the unconventional lifts and movements do that much better than normal HIIT with good form? Enlighten me here since I've been focused on my current routine without looking into others much over the past few months.

My dog has bad breath, would a brushing help?

Crossfit only works if you put effort into it. Otherwise, waste of money that could've been spent on a happy meal

what unconventional lifts are you talking about?
I really don't understand the circle jerk hate for crossfit as a whole. Yes, some members are annoying, but most are fine.
ETA: Actually, I completely understand the hate. Those people are annoying as hell.

It's obviously a great workout. I think it's more for those who need someone over them all the time or a group to keep them motivated. I like to do my lifts at my pace so just not for me.

My buddy has been doing it for 3 months, and I can say for him, it isn't. He did have bruises on his forearms yesterday from a guy dropping 300lbs on him while squatting

I know one or two people doing it, and I haven't seen them progress much. And they pay $100+ a month as well.
As with anything it'll only work if you put in the effort.
Personally, I'd rather not do unnecessary lifts with a higher chance of injury, for no noticeable additional benefit over traditional lifting.

of course it works, it's a great workout
but it is in no way worth the $160/month that some gyms charge to workout 3 times a week
that is what has kept me from doing it

it's not for me and I've been at it for about 4 years.
However, that 100 a month is completely worth it for those who have never done an olympic lift and need the motivation that the box and peer pressure encourage.

I'm sure it is
but for me, the value is just not there
I do not think the gains would be 3 or 4x the increase of a normal gym

It has for me, but any disciplined workout program would (and has before.)
My work opened a fitness center last year. It's dirt cheap, and a bunch of classes (including Crossfit) are included. I'd much rather have someone plan and schedule my workout regimen for me.
I had similar results as when I lifted on my own - but this way is easier on me.

exactly the way I see it, but you and I workout a lot.
I don't need motivation to get to the gym because it is something I truly enjoy and look forward to each day.
99% of the rest of the pop don't feel the same.

I know they won't let you join if you're already a member of HPC.

Olympics lifts and Power lifting is unconventional now

no, it's not. You can get great beenfits from other workouts as long as you commit to it.
