Kurt Busch and Andretti Autosport announced Tuesday that he will try to become the first driver in 10 years to run the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the same day.

LINK

Its been 10 years since anyone has tried it. Logistics is going to be a bitch getting from Indy to Charlotte.

Anyone thinks he could win both?

I doubt he even finishes both.

Doesn't have any real experience. He tested some for Andretti and ran through the rookie orientation last year.

If I remember correctly, don't they usually start a provisional driver or whatever you want to call it in the Coca Cola 600 and then when Kurt gets there, they swap out drivers? Or am I either a)misremembering or b) not know what the heck I'm talking about?

only person I think would have a prayer is smoke, and he hasn't raced open wheels in years. My prediction, he crashes at Indy, top 10 at the 600.

I remember Tony Stewart doing it. After Charlotte they carried him off on a stretcher from dehydration.

You'd have to REALLY love racing to do this to yourself. 1100 miles of racing against the world's best in two different time zones on the same day is just grueling.

Robby Gordon was the last to try it. Smoke was the only one who finished both races.

Gotcha, thanks.

I remember Tony doing it. Didn't realize it had been so long since he had, though.
