From noon thru the afternoon it is supposed to be 36 degrees and rising up to a high of 41 about 5:00. I would think they would have it back open early afternoon. Low tonight is showing 37

I thought it was closed because of a jackknifed truck.

May be a jackknifed truck, but there are several wrecks. it's icing over too

In far lane, looks like black truck facing wrong way. Just above the two cars that hit

In close lane you can see cops have inside lane blocked off

I think the jack-knifed truck (plus ice) caused I-10 over the Atchafalaya Basin to be closed between Port Allen & Lafayette.

ETA: nevermind, WAFB just posted this shot of another jack-knifed truck on I-10 E and I-110 N.

Do you really NEED to? Bridge closing not an excuse to go home?

WAFB says I-10 W at College is closed, plus the multiple wrecks around the new bridge are causing heavy delays.

If you can make your way to the old bridge, I'm pretty sure that is still open, but someone said it's really slick on the Port Allen side.

knowing the new bridge is closed if I were you I would check to see if the I20 ms river bridge is still open. If it is then drive to vburg then take 61 south to BR. Or stay at home but that might not be an option.
