Just looking at the list to try and compare what we're looking at in '15 in competition with arguably our biggest 2 competitors. Just notable names from the other teams and a few big names from ours. I'm sure we aren't going to re-sign PT/Sproles if their age shows this upcoming season. Interesting what will be done with ingram and cadet

Seattle (76.2mil cap)
Chris Clemons
Cliff Avril
Earl Thomas
James Carpenter
KJ Wright
Richard Sherman
Byron Maxwell
Malcolm Smith

San Fran (107.5mil cap)
Frank Gore
Michael Crabtree
Aldon Smith
Mike Iupati
Colin Kaepernick
Bruce miller
Kendall Hunter

Saints (114mil cap)
Darren Sproles
Pierre Thomas
Patrick Robinson
Cameron Jordan
Mark Ingram
Victor Butler
Travaris Cadet
Tyrunn Walker
Marcel Jones

Cameron Jordan is the only must sign I read on our list. Walker is a great depth player and I'd love to have him back.

Ingram looks to have turned it on as of late. Time will tell, but it looks like he could be the back of our future

As long as they keep Ingram on a separate practice field at all times, we should be fine

Man both of those teams are screwed. There's no way they're keeping all those guys. This was a good post.

Being first rounders from 2011(after the new CBA), Jordan and Ingram have team 5th year options for pretty cheap compared to what they'd get on the open market(at least in Jordan's case).

I don't think any of their guys on these lists are 2011 first round picks so they're screwed.

And things can change and someone could have a breakout season(Butler for sure), but none of our other guys are big name guys and young.

I'm surprised he isn't pushing for more. He should just sit tight and I'm sure teams will bid that number higher next year.

And not because I think he's worth more, but because of the current contracts and suddenly escalating cap somebody will be willing to overpay.

We're projected to have about 40 million in cap space next offseason.

We'll resign Gore for 4 million less than what he's making now or we'll move on.

Smith is making 4 million now, probly double that to come in line with what we are paying Willis, Bowman and Brooks.

Hunter will be gone

Miller will be back at a modest increase.

Crab will be given a healthy raise.

Kaep is the big question mark. I'd draft one of the QBs this year in the 2nd or 3rd round (we have a ton of early round picks) and see how he looks. I'd transistion tag Kaep and let him walk for anything more that 9 million.

That would put us right under the cap. May have to cut Carlos Rodgers worst case.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but this niner core is not going to be broken up anytime soon.

GTFO with that dumb shite. You can't even keep your coach and GM together. You will not sign Kaep for 9 million. Sorry for being the bearer of bad news.

Sorry you don't want to hear it but it's the truth. 40 million in cap space for next year. Look it up.

I just said that's what I would do. We will have enough cap room next year to resign everyone. Carols Rodgers would be the only casualty if we gave Kaep a huge deal.

We've drafted very well and managed our contracts equally as well. I know Saints fans are bitter that their window is closing but that's life in the NFL. DWI.

You're crazy if you think Smith is only going to get $8m per.

I did just recheck and saw he is a 2011 1st rounder which means y'all have a 5th year option on him for cheap(comparatively).

Crab's going to be seeking at least $10m.

And you'd be willing to let Kap go like that? Not that I think he's great, but his rushing skills adds a lot to the offense. And don't forget how QB was for years until Smith clicked and then y'all replaced him.

Well that's about what Willis, Brooks and Bowman are all making...

And again, even if you're right we have 40 million in cap space for next year. Close to 50 million if we cut Rodgers.

Well that's why I'm saying use one of those 6 picks in the first 3 rounds on one of these QBs and see what they can do. Kaep has added a lot but he has shown that he has some limitations. If he continues to improve dramatically then that's one thing but as he is now I think we'd be better served letting him go and keeping the rest of the team intact rather that doing what Baltimore had to do.

You mean until Harbaugh was hired?

You know, I'm going to have to agree with that.

Kind of like another player that might get overpaid soon.

update:

Updating a previous item, CBS' Jason La Canfora says Colin Kaepernick won't settle for anything less than $20M per season annually in a new contract.

Earlier reports had Kaepernick seeking anywhere from $17-$19M in average annual salary. La Canfora says Kaep "believes he is a top-five quarterback" and will be perfectly happy to "bet on himself" by playing out the final year of his rookie deal for $973,766. It's the right move. Kaepernick is just 26 years old, is 21-9 as a starter (including playoffs) and franchise quarterbacks get what they want these days. The Niners will pony up.

I'm no NFL GM, but they would be wiser letting Kap walk, drafting another guy, and paying that D every penny. That is the only way they win games.
