I have recently discovered that I have a beaver problem. I have #330 traps on order with 2 day shipping so I need some tips before I set them. Give me all you got. Also, I bought some castor so any tips in that area would be appreciated as well.

Locate the lodge, wade around it until you find the plunge hole. Get yourself 2 strong, straight limbs (bout 1" diameter) and drive them into the mud on each side of the plunge hole. Slide a conibear down them so that it's set around the opening of the plunge hole. Dead beaver, and a little psychological warfare as well, as the entrance to their home has now been clogged up by one of their corpses.

Not sure how your setup is but on our buddies place we would locate where they were travelling to their different dams and set up obstacles to create a bottleneck. Stick the trap in the bottle neck and then bust the damn, the sound of flowing water gets them coming. And if you are bored you can always just get ya a pile of beer and shine them when they come in to fix it at night.

That's cold blooded.

I usually just cut a hole in their dam so you get running water, then drive 2 limbs/sticks into the lake bottom about a foot from the opening in the dam. Use the two sticks to hold trap upright, tie to a sturdy tree, check in the morning, make beaver hat, profit.

Is it legal to shoot them at night?

I bet that'd be a good way to put a dent in them and catch a buzz

Anyone got any advice for snaring coyotes? I have a bad problem at my place. I killed one on my porch and have been seeing 4-5 in my back yard regularly. I've killed 5 in the last 2 weeks.
