I was a big aquarium guy growing up, got my first one when I was 11.

Had one in college, but haven't had one lately because of how transient I have been since graduating(Have lived in 5 different states) and don't want to set one up when I know I am only in a location temporarily

But my best setup was when I had a 25 gallon tank with cool decorations and live plants. Live plants though take a lot of work/maintanence but I think it pays off.

Fish, I preferred tropical fish like tetras and gouramis. My favorite setup was neon tetras, glowlight tetras, and a few powder blue gouramis.

I had an awesome take with African cichlids for a while. I loved it. African Cichlids are great because you can get a lot of variety of colors and put them all together as long as they have some personal space. They like caves and things like that. I used some slate and large rocks to make some holes and they each took one of these fish apartments. I ended up having like 6 or 7. Just have to make sure none are significantly bigger than others because they will gang up on one if he's too small.

I can't wait to set up another one. I used to have one, but like you, I know I will be moving soon.

I frequent this site. They have some insane setups and are great at giving advice.

I had small tanks as a kid, but in a few years I'm going to do around a 200 gallon reef tank. Right now we travel too much for my kid's karate tournaments, and I'd be too afraid of something going wrong while I'm away. Years ago my stepdaughter had a tank in her room, and her fish were constantly dying. Couldn't figure out why. Then one day I walked into her room and she had one in her hand and was petting it. That explained a lot.

The fish in that tank alone are way over $1,000 bucks. Plus dealing with salt water fish can be a bit of a hassle. That's gotta be a 2-3 grand investment right here.

I would love to have a saltwater tank at some point in my life, but they are much more expensive to take care of.

Don't do it. Doesn't add value to your house, your monthly bills will go up by a million, you will be working on it all day everyday, nobody who has one likes it, you will neve........my bad......thought this was the "who has a pool" thread.

Aquariums are cool. Also kinda like pools....saltwater ones are better.

Only have a 75 gallon freshwater right now inside. Mainly tetras, catfish, angels, and a pleco.

Used to have two 20 gallon tanks to go along with them. One was a live plant tank.

Dug this pond in the back yard and its been running for about 2 years. Goldfish, minnows, pleco, and other random stuff in there that birds brought in

I'd like one but I don't want another responsibility.

I mainly just want an underwater octagon so beta fish can work out their differences.

I've got a 20gallon that we got for the kids. Couple of tetras, a bamboo shrimp, 2 corey catfish, a red tail shark and one big arse catfish.

They are a pain in the arse to maintain.

once a tank is established, theyre pretty easy to take care of. a 20 gallon requires no more than an hour a week of upkeep, if that
